Greetings, Wildcat Family!

A special Wildcat Roar to all of our scholars who participated in performances and competitions last week! We are proud of your dedication and commitment to excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts. Thank you to our Lovejoy community for your continued support and encouragement. Your partnership makes a difference!

Welcome back, teachers and scholars, from a well-deserved fall break! As we return, let us remain focused on our 2026–2027 theme, Mission Possible II: Excellence by Design. Embodying excellence by design requires intentionality. Excellence does not happen by chance; it is the result of preparation, discipline, and a collective commitment to giving our best every day. As we enter the second half of the first semester, I encourage every member of Wildcat Nation to approach each day with purpose, determination, and pride in representing Lovejoy High School.

As we look ahead, please be mindful of our upcoming ACT, ASVAB, and PSAT testing opportunities. The ACT and PSAT provide valuable opportunities for college-bound scholars to assess their readiness for postsecondary education. The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) offers insight into scholars’ strengths, aptitudes, and potential career interests.

I strongly encourage our juniors and seniors to sign up for the ASVAB. As Mark Twain once said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” The ASVAB can help scholars take an important step toward discovering their “why” by identifying their strengths and exploring potential college majors, technical programs, and career pathways that align with their interests and abilities.

Wildcats, let us continue to move forward with purpose. Stay focused, remain disciplined, and strive for greatness in the classroom and beyond. Every day presents another opportunity to grow, make progress, and demonstrate what excellence looks like.

Together, we will continue building a culture of excellence where our scholars are empowered to discover their purpose, pursue their passions, and achieve their dreams.

With Wildcat Pride,

Dr. Kelvin L. Griffin
Principal, Lovejoy High School

Veritas

Do you know a high-achieving student who dreams big?

Perhaps it’s a student who consistently goes above and beyond in the classroom, demonstrates exceptional intellectual curiosity, or dreams of attending one of the world's most prestigious colleges and universities.

If so, Veritas may be the perfect next step to help make their dreams of attending one of the top colleges & universities in the world.

What is Veritas?

Veritas is a nonprofit Saturday school for high-achieving youth in grades 5-7 (Veritas Preparatory Program) and grades 8-12 (Veritas Debate Institute). Through a suite of programs, Veritas partners with local schools to provide accelerated academic and professional development training to make students ultra-competitive for admission to prestigious colleges and for impactful careers.

National Recognition

Veritas has garnered national and international recognition for its innovative approach to pre-collegiate education and the exceptional achievements of its scholars. The organization has been featured by leading media outlets, including Forbes Magazine, Good Morning America, CNN, CBS, 11Alive News, The Steve Harvey Show, and others.

Our nationally recognized pre-collegiate training is designed especially for high-achieving 5th-12th-grade students who are ready for a challenge, eager to grow, and excited about the future.

Grades 5-7: Veritas Prep is a weekly Saturday school for 5th-7th-grade students who want to be challenged beyond what’s taught in traditional school. Veritas Prep provides early exposure to college-level academic training in subjects that accelerate reading, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Veritas Prep is a multi-year program that feeds into the Veritas Debate Institute.

Grades 8 - 12: Veritas Debate Institute (VDI) is our nationally recognized flagship program. VDI is a weekly Saturday school that teaches college-level subjects, including philosophy, political science, economics, debate, and more. Students train for one year in preparation for a summer residential program at Harvard University or UC Berkeley, where they study and compete with gifted and talented youth worldwide in an academic debate competition.
