Math Kangaroo

Do you have a student who loves math or who might need an extra challenge in math? This year, Raven will be offering a math competition through Math Kangaroo.

Math Kangaroo USA is a national nonprofit organization with a mission of helping students love math. The Math Kangaroo competition involves students taking a 75-minute test on March 19 with practice problems and lessons that lead up to the test.

The test has a multiple-choice format with 24 questions for students grades K-4 and 30 questions for grades 5-12. The test will be proctored online for Raven students. Based on the test results, students are recognized with awards ranging from medals, ribbons, college grants, summer math camp opportunities, and other prizes.

We will set up regular practice sessions at each Raven office for registered students to prepare participants for the test on March 19. Sample questions are available on their website to give you an idea of the type of math problems involved.

Our practice schedule: The schedule will be determined by each office once we know who wants to participate and when works for those families. Please sign up early to help us with getting practice sessions scheduled locally, then let your advisory teacher know that you registered so we can add you to our office list. Thanks!

The registration fee is $18 per student as long as you register before December 31. After registering and paying the fee, you may get it reimbursed from your allotment.
