🐾 Middle School Tip of the Week / Consejo de la Semana para la Escuela Secundaria

🌟 Tip of the Week: Attendance Matters! Every Day Counts!

Regular school attendance helps students stay on track, build strong relationships, and make progress in their learning. Missing even a few days can make it harder for students to keep up with lessons and assignments.

Here are a few ways parents can help:

  • Establish a consistent bedtime and morning routine.

  • Make sure your child arrives at school on time every day.

  • Schedule appointments outside school hours whenever possible.

  • Talk with your child about any worries or challenges that may make attending school difficult.

  • Celebrate good attendance and encourage your child to keep doing their best!

Remember, every school day is an opportunity to learn something new, connect with others, and grow. Your support makes a difference!

Together, let's make every day count!

🐾 GMS: Great Minds Succeed!

Coming to school every day makes a difference! Regular attendance helps students stay connected, keep up with their learning, and build positive habits that will benefit them throughout their education.

✅ Benefits of Coming to School Every Day

  • 📚 Stay on track academically: Students don't miss important lessons, assignments, or assessments.
  • 🧠 Better understanding: Being present every day helps students build on what they learned the day before.
  • 🤝 Build friendships: Students have more opportunities to develop positive relationships with classmates and teachers.
  • 🎯 Develop responsibility: Consistent attendance helps students develop habits of being dependable and prepared.
  • 🏆 Participate in activities: Students have more opportunities to participate in school events, clubs, athletics, and other activities.
  • 💪 Build confidence: Staying caught up can help students feel more confident and successful in the classroom.

⚠️ What Happens When Students Miss School?

Even missing one or two days can make it harder to keep up. Frequent absences can lead to:

  • Missing important instruction and assignments.
  • Falling behind academically.
  • Having to spend additional time making up missed work.
  • Missing classroom discussions and activities.
  • Feeling disconnected from classmates and teachers.
  • Developing gaps in learning that can become harder to close over time.

Every Day Counts! 🏫

We understand that students may occasionally need to be absent due to illness or other important circumstances. Our goal is to work with families, not against them, to support consistent attendance and student success.

Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance a priority!

Every Student. Every Day. Every Opportunity.

Great Minds Succeed! 🐾

  • Perder clases, instrucciones y tareas importantes.

🐾 Activities Parents Can Do at Home / Actividades que los Padres Pueden Hacer en Casa

This month, we are focusing on SELF-DIRECT! Self-direct means taking responsibility for your actions, setting goals, making good decisions, and staying focused on what you need to accomplish—even when no one is reminding you.

Here are a few simple activities you can practice at home with your child:

🏡 Self-Direct Activities at Home

  1. 🎯 Set a Daily Goal
Ask your child to choose one goal for the day, such as finishing homework, reading for 20 minutes, or helping with a household chore. At the end of the day, talk about their progress.

  2. 📅 Create a Daily Routine
Work together to create a simple schedule for homework, chores, free time, and bedtime. Encourage your child to follow the schedule independently.

  3. 🎒 Get Ready for Tomorrow
Have your child prepare their backpack, clothes, and school supplies the night before. This helps build responsibility and independence.

  4. 💡 Make Good Choices
Talk about everyday situations and ask, “What would you do?” Encourage your child to think about their options and the possible consequences before making a decision.

  5. 🧹 Take Responsibility
Give your child a household responsibility, such as cleaning their room, washing dishes, or caring for a pet. Let them complete the task without constant reminders.

  6. 💬 Reflect on the Day
At dinner or before bedtime, ask:

  • What is one good decision you made today?

  • What is something you could improve tomorrow?

  • Did you stay focused on your goals?

  • What are you proud of today?

Remember, families play an important role in helping students become responsible, confident, and independent. Encourage your child to keep trying, celebrate their progress, and remind them that small steps lead to big successes!

Together, we can help our students develop the skills they need to succeed in school and in life!

🐾 GMS: Great Minds Succeed!

Student Injuries and Insurance 2025-2026

Dear Parent/Legal Guardian:

Your school is committed to providing a safe environment for your student. As such, your school carries accident medical coverage for injuries to students that occur while your student is on campus attending regularly schedule classes, practicing and playing in interscholastic sports for the school, and while attending events that are directly sponsored by and directly supervised by the school. Please know that your school does not assume responsibility for these costs, and the policy is provided to assist when accidents do happen and help with resulting medical treatment. The policy is secondary to any existing primary coverage to assist with any co-pays and deductibles left by primary coverage. But, in the event there is no primary coverage, this policy will act as primary in those instances to assist with medical costs.

If the district student accident insurance policy will be your primary coverage for school related activities and interscholastic sports and you are asked to provide a policy number, you should use Ace American Insurance Company SDA N1901292A. If you have primary coverage, you’ll want to continue to use your primary coverage policy number when asked to provide it for all school activities.

The attached brochure will help explain the benefits of the school-time plan the school has already purchased for you and who to contact in the event you need to file a claim. Any questions regarding this coverage and claim filing can be directed to Eric Swartz with Myers-Stevens & Toohey at (800) 827-4695.

Student Accident Insurance New Mexico 2025 - 2026

Estimado Padre/Madre/Tutor Legal:
