Major's Minute
Sorry, I just have to share another aha moment with our dog Honey-Pi. Personally, I love the big bouncy fur all over her. She runs and it's just like a movie with wind blowing through and making her look so happy. However, over the last few weeks, I noticed it was harder to brush our eight month old puppy. I started finding hard to brush out knots in her fur and thought "Oh oh, I think we're going to need a professional."
After taking her to get groomed for the first time, the employee said upon inspection that she'll have to get a lot of her fur buzzed off because of the many knots that she had. As you can see from the pictures, she had a LOT cut off.
It makes me think how did it get so bad, so quickly? The answer is, it wasn't quickly. It was little by little, day after day. Letting one day slip by without a brushing, turning into two days, and more. It was just us letting our guard down and not paying attention to the things that would keep Honey-Pi in better condition. She may have looked okay on the outside from far away, but to see her up close was a different picture.
What are things in our lives that we may be losing sight of? Are we slipping or getting out of the practice of the things that will keep us in better health? Spiritually are we knotted up, almost trapped by sin that may have crept up on us? Go to God, ask Him to refine you, cutting out the things that are not of Him and He will do it.
As you ponder these things, I share with you the resources of The Salvation Army W.R.A.P. (White Ribbon Against Pornography) Week. In this world of growing anonymity and privacy, along with the access to so much explicit photos, videos, shows, and more, let's ask God to guard our hearts and minds. This is definitely an area that can grab a hold of anyone. Let's claim God's holiness.
**Note - We are updating our volunteer files. We'll be asking current and new volunteers to complete the volunteer packet. We will also be giving you instructions on how to get additional fingerprinting (now required by law) for those who work with youth. You will not need to pay for anything. We will guide you on how to get this done.**
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3

Trick or Treating at CANDY CORN WAY
We're inviting the community (including yourself) to come to our First Annual Trick or Treating at CANDY CORN WAY - Getting the community onto our property to know that we are here and bless them. For our first event we are asking for hosts to decorate, purchase candy for, and/or pass out candy at the doors of our property from 5 - 7 PM. We'll have a handful of lawn activities and music - nothing too overwhelming our first year. We pray to meet families and grow this event each year to come.
