ConVal High School Happenings - October 13, 2023
Message from Principal McKillop
Good Afternoon, Cougar Nation!
It has been nice to have a rain-free week on campus!
Last Saturday, we hosted just over 400 students at the homecoming dance. Thanks to all of our staff members who helped chaperone the event and the senior class officers who worked so hard to plan a great evening.
There are some wonderful learning experiences happening inside and outside of our classrooms. Please see the classroom snapshots below. You'll also see some pictures of our students engaging in a practicum off campus and some attending a field trip to the Boston Fine Arts Museum.
Congratulations to our senior student-athletes who have been honored this week with their respective teams. ConVal Nation will host additional senior night recognition games next week. Please see more details under the athletics and co-curricular section below.
As a reminder, please make sure to reference the table of contents and important dates section of the newsletter. There is always quite a bit included! Since this is an active link, you can always go back to click on it as a reference.
Tomorrow, there will be a 5k race in Peterborough, the our town trot (https://cheetahdesignstudio.com/our-town-trot-peterborough-nh/). Consider lacing up those sneakers and joining me in the morning for a run around town as we raise funds for the FCVA.
I am pictured above with a member of the girls volleyball team. Tonight is the "dig pink" game to focus attention on breast cancer awareness. I look forward to supporting the team tonight as ConVal (#2) takes on Oyster River (#1). It should be a great game!
Have a wonderful weekend, and GO COUGARS!
Best,
Heather

New FAFSA Requirement for Graduation
Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
Important!! New FAFSA Requirement for Graduation...
There is a new requirement for New Hampshire students to graduate high school. For the Class of 2024 going forward, students are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or sign a waiver opting out.
For many individuals, the idea of college, or any post-secondary training, feels out of reach financially. However, there are so many ways that people can receive financial support to assist with the cost such as pell grants, merit aid, and scholarships. The only way to know what financial assistance you qualify for, is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). In an effort to help students understand all of their post-secondary options, the state of New Hampshire is mandating that all students fill out the FAFSA, or complete a waiver, as a graduation requirement.
** Please join us on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 in the LHT @ 6:00pm for a presentation from the NH Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF). **

Over the course of the year, students will design activities based on different developmental milestones and be able to see how the children interact with the projects.

Students were asked to provide examples from the reading that could be included in their graphic organizer.
