Happy Halloween Everyone! Happy Halloween Everyone!

Middle school counting the ballots the morning after the Pumpkin Walk!

Wow! Despite Mother Nature not being in our favor this week, Wednesday night's Pumpkin Walk was everything I heard about and more. I want to thank our PTO for providing pumpkins and putting on a delicious dinner, Mr. McNicholas and his students for giving us a musical treat, Ms. Tremblay and 8th Graders for organizing and facilitating the Pumpkin Walk and the community as a whole! Your flexibility and participation continue to make this one of the most talked about traditions at LCS and this year we had more votes than ever!

This Years Pumpkin Walk Winners:

Most Creative Pumpkin - Taya Butler (PreK), Madison Walker (6th)

Scariest Pumpkin - Trent Ferland (4th), Alaina Greenwood (8th)

Next week is November and with that brings the end of the first quarter, fields trips, our first quarter student recognition ceremony, time off with family for Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving and only a short amount of before our Holiday Break. Our 4th and 5th graders will be taking day field trips next week and our 6th-8th grade students will be spending three days at Hulbert! Mr. Peterson will be back again as one of the chaperone's on this year's Hulbert trip. I know our middle school students are looking forward to spending more time with him.

Library Organization Project

Ms. Magurk and community volunteers have been working hard to organize the school library and update our book collection. In doing so, there are books that we are getting rid of and are available for students to take home. If your child comes home with a book stripped of it's barcode, it is one that we are getting rid of and they may keep it! We are also updating our cataloging system and have more excited changes coming soon. Please make sure all students know that they may still access the library and check out books during this transition time.

LCS "Warming Tree"

Over the next few weeks our "Warming Tree" will be displayed in the school entryway. Hung from the branches will be tag ornaments featuring children's sizes for winter coats, boots etc. for families in need within our school community. If you would like to contribute, select a tag, shop, then drop off the winter items to the office. In prior years we had asked that they be wrapped but this year we would like to be able to gift these to families before the holiday break because we are already experiencing temperatures that are below freezing! If you have any questions about donating or your family is in need of this support please contact Jessamyn Delude in the Nurse's Office.

Bringing Paris to LCS

When Mr. Cooper took the position as Wellness Coach in late summer, he informed us that he already booked a week in France with his wife and it was set to happen in October. We knew he would be a wonderful fit for our tiny school, so we worked together to make arrangements that allowed him to go on this trip of a lifetime with minimal disruption to the learning environment. Mr. Cooper returned this week after an amazing adventure and was eager to share his experiences with staff and students! Mr. Cooper not only brought back stories of travel abroad but also miniature Eiffel Tower keychains for all of his students! As the students left the gym with smiles stretching ear to ear, new treasure in hand, it was yet another reminder of the family atmosphere we share at LCS.

Ski and Snowboard Club

Mount Sunapee again is providing an opportunity for students to participate in skiing and snowboarding at a reduced price for lessons and rentals during the week and beginning in January. LCS students have participated in this activity and the school continues to support their involvement in this non-school sponsored opportunity. The Ski and Snowboard Club organizers want to hear from parents before the season kicks off! Here is the survey they would like you to take a few moments to fill out. Additionally the flyer featured here should have gone home in your child's backpack about the Ski Swap on November 15th. Thank you in advance for your participation in the survey. The snow will be here before we know it!
