Bats🦇 don’t suck blood🩸 : they save you and your snacks! 🥭🍌
While there are many false ideas about bats (they all drink blood, carry rabies, or are blind), the truth is, they do more for humans than you think.
Bat Facts:
Bats can consume 1000 mosquitoes in one hour. 🦟These mosquitoes can carry diseases like the West Nile Virus, so by eating them, they are protecting you!
Bats are pollinators. Without their help spreading seeds, cacao beans (a main ingredient in your chocolate Halloween candy!) 🍫wouldn’t survive.
Bats save lives! About 80 medicines💉 that come from plants are pollinated by bats.
Bats also pollinate fruits like mangos, avocados, and bananas!
🍃 Project Green
🍃 Project Green
Project Green is an initiative started by Gema Rodriguez who is an intern with the Student Conservation Association. Each week she will have a list of four activities that students can select to complete by Friday.
If students complete two activities from the board and participate in the Friday outdoor activity period, they will get lunch or a sweet treat that day.
If they do that 3 times, they get to be invited on field trips that Endeavor has planned throughout the year.
Completion of activities covers participation for Project Green, but students should check with their teachers to see if that same activity can be used for their classes as well. For the first activity, Mrs. Thurik is incorporating it into her English 2 unit over argumentative essays so students can see the value of the classroom activities having a real-world impact outside of the classroom.
The first week of Project Green will begin next week on Monday, November 3! Students should check the board in the cafeteria to see what the activities are for the week and be prepared to work outside on Friday.

New Scholarship Resources for High School Students
Access Scholarships is a free scholarship and college resource platform for student. Their goal is to connect high school students with scholarship opportunities and other financial aid resources to to help them navigate the (often complicated) world of higher education.
In addition to the scholarship search and directory (with over 10,000 scholarships in their database-they add to everyday), they have several resources specifically geared towards high school students.
All of the links below are great resources and opportunities for you!
ACT/SAT Info
What is the ACT/SAT test?
Both the SAT and the ACT are nationally administered, standardized tests that help schools evaluate your application and see how prepared you are for college courses. The SAT and ACT generally cover the same topics. Both ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships. Most colleges do not prefer one test over the other. Neither the SAT nor ACT is harder than the other. Different students tend to do better on one test than the other.
Ask Mrs. Jackson or Mrs. Salinas for more information.
