Art as Justice: A Collaboration between The Barnstable Courthouses and BHS ART!
"Art, ultimately, is our expression of justice; a justice for our cultures, those of the oppressed, justice for our hearts and for the ones we love." - Kayro Dos Santos
Barnstable Courthouses Cultural Appreciation Week!!!
BHS student Kayro Dos Santos curated a GIANT exhibition of BHS student artwork, spanning three Barnstable courthouses and including over 50 student works to celebrate Cultural Appreciation Week! The Barnstable Courthouses were selected as 1 of 6 flagship courthouses statewide to spearhead and celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of our community! Kayro selected student work which is currently festooning the walls of the Superior Court, Family and Probate Courthouses as well as the Juvenile Courthouse.
The week culminated in a fantastic event in late October, where food, dancing, and artwork from across the cultural spectrum were celebrated! Special thanks to majestic community partners Mariana Fernandes (BHS Alumn!), Donna Feinberg, and Donna Widdiss for ushering this fabulous collaboration in to being!
