A Message from Mrs. Franciosa
Dear Evergreen Families,
It was terrific having many parents and guardians visit our classrooms in honor of American Education Week on Wednesday. We hope you enjoyed your time and are appreciative of the support we receive from all of our Evergreen families each day!
While you are here for conferences on Monday and Tuesday we hope you'll be able to stop by our book fair in the library. Lost and Found items will also be available in the main lobby and you can add your name to our Raptor System Database, if you haven't done so this year, by stopping in the main office. Please be sure to have your ID with you if you'd like to do this.
Please remember that students do not have school next week due to conferences and for the Thanksgiving holiday.
On Friday, December 1st we will participate in the CHOP Pajama Day fundraiser as our first community service project this year. For additional information please see further down in the newsletter.
A quick snapshot of what you can find in this newsletter is listed below.

CHOP Pajama Day: Friday, December 1st
As a community service project, Evergreen will be participating in CHOP's Pajama Day. All students and staff can wear school appropriate pajamas or "comfy clothes" on Friday, December 1st.
Participants are encouraged to make a small donation (a penny or more) to support children who rely on Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for care, cures, and hope. Students should bring their donations to their homerooms on Friday, December 1st.
Please note: it is not necessary to make a donation in order to participate.
Thank You & Best Wishes to Mrs. Komara
Please join me in wishing Mrs. Komara the very best of luck! This isn't goodbye, just "see you later"!
Evergreen Reading Olympics Team
Does your child love to read?
Is your child in 4th or 5th grade?
Your child should join Evergreen’s Reading Olympics Team!!
The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit sponsors the annual Reading Olympics which will take place in person this March 2023. (We will either be competing on March 21st at Souderton HS or March 13th at North Penn HS) The event is a great way for students, who love reading, to participate in a fun-filled evening while sharing their knowledge of books and competing against teams from other schools.
Teams preparing for the event are given a list of 25 books (Book List) that will be used in the competition. On the night of the Reading Olympics, each team will go through three rounds of questioning against other teams from Montgomery county elementary schools and will accumulate points for each correct answer they give.
Students who join Evergreen’s Reading Olympics teams will meet on Wednesday mornings at 8am in Evergreen’s Library starting November 29th, 2023 to prepare for the event in March. Each member of the team is asked to read a minimum of 5 books from the list before the event. All of the books can be found in Evergreen’s library as well as some can be found in Mrs. Mumford’s room (200). When dropping students off for Reading Olympics on Wednesday mornings, please have them wait in your car until you see me come out the main door to usher them into school.
If your child would like to participate in the Reading Olympics - please sign them up via a google form - https://forms.gle/si4XxdF56UdFExBz6 or use the QR code below.
2024 Variety Show Registration
We are excited that you are interested in joining Variety Show this year! This is a great opportunity for kids to bond with their peers outside of school in a fun, easy-going environment.
In order to allow group leaders time to plan and choreograph their routine based on the expected number of kids in their group, we ask that you please register no later than Friday, Dec 22, 2023.
If you have any questions, please email the coordinators at evergreenvarietyshow@gmail.com. This email address will be used for all Variety Show general communications.

It is important that students learn how to be safe. During November we continue to review and practice our drills. This week we practiced our lockdown protocols utilizing the run/hide procedures. The students did a terrific job. Student friendly and age-appropriate language is used when reviewing our drills and reflecting upon them when they conclude.
