Message from the Superintendent
Dear District 41 Community,
As the school year comes to a close, I want to personally thank you for your engagement, partnership, and support throughout my second year as superintendent. It has been an honor and a joy to get to know so many members of our District 41 community. The more time I spend here, the more I feel at home and excited about what we will accomplish together in the future.
This year, we continued to strengthen the WE in #WeAreD41. Together, we celebrated achievements, navigated challenges, and remained focused on our students. Whether through participation in advisory councils, community conversations, volunteer efforts, school events, or everyday interactions, your involvement has helped shape our district and contributed to the success of our schools.
I see greatness all around us. I see it in our students' musical performances, academic accomplishments, creative projects, athletic achievements, acts of kindness, and daily growth. I see it in the dedication of our staff and the unwavering support of our families. Most importantly, I see it in the way our community comes together to support one another and create opportunities for every child to thrive.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together this year and excited about what lies ahead. I wish you and your family a wonderful summer, and I look forward to continuing our work together as we build on our legacy and keep striving for greatness.
Best,
Jeff
Dr. Jeff McHugh
Superintendent

Greatness in District 41 Award at Abraham Lincoln School
The District 41 PTA Council presents Greatness in District 41 awards to educators across the district. Most recently, this honor was awarded to Custodian Mr. Steve Driscoll at Abraham Lincoln. The Greatness in District 41 Award is presented to individuals who represent the best of District 41. They motivate students to be the finest version of themselves, and by doing so, leave a lifelong impact.
"I would like to say "Thank You" to all of those that have awarded me with this newly created PTA Council Greatness in D41 Award," said Mr. Discoll. "I work with a great team of people that have taught, guided, and helped me through my career here at D41 - Dave Scarmardo(Supervisor), Brian Thiese(Hadley), Jesse Sierra(Maintenance), Javier Tellez(Maintenance), Arnulfo Sanchez(Maintenance), Robert Devine(Maintenance), and my Team here at Lincoln - Adriatik Perihana(Teko), Tony Yarbrough, Dashamir Begaj(Dash), Vazilet Lelo(Letty), and Seit Hametaj(Coty)."

Hadley Choir Ends the Year on a High Note
The Hadley Choir Concert was a joyful celebration of the school year and showcased the talents of all three grade-level choruses, along with the extracurricular fretted orchestra, Triple Fret. More than 130 students performed music representing cultures and traditions from around the world.
Concert highlights included selections from Matilda: The Musical and Les Misérables, as well as the annual 8th Grade Slideshow honoring the graduating chorus members. The evening concluded with a powerful performance of "One Day More" from Les Misérables, featuring the 8th grade chorus and the waving of both the Hadley Flag and Chorus Flag.
Congratulations to all of the student performers, and thank you to Choir Director Paul Marchese for leading another outstanding year of music-making at Hadley!
Forest Glen One Earth Club - Butterflies, Barrels, and Big Environmental Impact
It’s all about Monarch butterflies for the Forest Glen One Earth environmental club this year. One Earth has been busy stratifying milkweed, planting milkweed and talking about the plight of Monarch butterflies and how essential milkweed is to them. Ms. Monica Miller, a Glen Ellyn Environmental Commission member and volunteer at the College of DuPage Horticulture Department, grew common milkweed at the College of DuPage greenhouse for One Earth club members to take home. Ms. Miller is also an avid monarch enthusiast and a former Forest Glen parent!
Meanwhile, club members are working on earning the Water Quality Flag from SCARCE with art teacher, Mrs. Colleen Hindman, who helped paint One Earth's new garden rain barrel. All are invited to come see this beautiful and useful artistic wonder in the Forest Glen One Earth Garden!
Great job One Earth Club members and thank you Ms. Miller and Mrs. Hindman!
Creativity on Display at Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin’s MAYkerspace event, MAYker’s Mind Mash-Up, held in the school Library Media Center, was a fun celebration of creativity and collaboration. Throughout the month of May, students read the If I Built a... book series by Chris Van Dusen and created projects inspired by the stories.
Digital Literacy Specialist Katie Johnson and Art Teacher Elisiana Terracciano partnered to organize a schoolwide maker celebration in which every student designed artwork for a 3D-printed magnetic frame. More than 500 student creations were displayed throughout the library, creating an impressive showcase of student imagination and innovation. Families were invited to visit and enjoy the exhibit.
7th Grade Brownie Bake-Off
Hadley's 7th graders baked up some brownie fun with a contest that was judged by building staff members. Students used their knowledge of ingredient functions to transform a traditional brownie recipe into a masterpiece. The students were judged on the taste, texture, and plating of their creations. "So much fun and chocolate was had by all," said Family and Consumer Science Teacher Allison Ritter.
Great job Hadley 7th graders!
