Book Fair * is coming up! September 29th-October 3rd!

This year we are really trying to bring our library up to the highest standards possible! This year I'm focusing on FICTION!

(*did you know??....the Library's budget is based on Book Fair Sales! )

NEW: Teachers will have their own QR Code through Scholastic E-wallets if you would like to donate to their classroom libraries. They will send their QR Code out in their weekly communications next week.

This year we have an Enchanted Forest Theme and will have a beautiful place to take pictures with your kids (and their new books!) !

Pick out gifts for the upcoming holidays! Birthday ideas! Just for fun!

Join us at the Book Fair- September 29th-October 3rd!

Illegal Parking Illegal Parking

Please do not block our neighbors' driveways when parking on the street. Even a partial obstruction is illegal. This is a common issue, especially near the bus loop entrance. Please be mindful of our neighbors during drop-off, pick-up, and special events. Thank you!

FUN RUN!!

It’s the final few days of fundraising for our Fun Run! Please remind any family or friends that have been considering making a donation - donations can come in until Monday, September 22! We have raised over $45,000 (AMAZING!!) and would still love to hit our school wide goal of $60,000 in the next few days. This funding is critical to provide funding for NRE for things like classroom supplies & resources, online curriculums, field trip underwriting, and more. We will host the school wide Prize Day on September 26th. Individual prizes will be delivered by Fall Break. If your student earns the Game Truck and/or Main Event experience, those will take place on October 3rd. Check out all the amazing incentives!

Follow along on the Fun Run website to see how close your child’s class is to taking the lead for the classroom with the most money raised - if they are close to taking the lead, consider an extra donation to help them move into first place! Ms. Garin’s class is not far from taking the lead away from Ms. Baird’s class!

Additionally, each grade level has a chance to win as well. If you see your child’s grade level on the brink of taking the lead, consider an extra donation to seal the deal! 1st grade is not far from catching 4th grade!

Parents! We need your help on Prize Day - Friday, September 26. Sign to volunteer today!

NRE Staff Appreciation

This week PTO set up a Popcorn Bar in the staff lounge as a small way to remind them that, “Our staff is Poppin’!” and “No one is Butter than them!” This was a fun way to thank them for the great work they do with our kiddos. See the pics below!

Upcoming Events

Winter Coat & Halloween Costume Drive

Bring your unneeded winter gear (jackets, gloves, hats, boots, etc.) to NRE starting Friday, September 12. We will have bins in the front lobby to drop off things you no longer need. Also, take a look in the bins or on the rack for anything you might need! Consider it a swap - give what you don’t need and take what you do need. You do not have to make a donation to take something you need. We want to make sure all NRE kiddos have warm gear this winter!

New this year - we will also collect unneeded Halloween costumes. If you see one in the bin that you can use, please take it!

The Coat & Costume Swap will end on Friday, September 26.

Multicultural Night

One of the most special nights of the year - NRE Multicultural Night - will be on Friday, October 3 from 5:00-7:00pm. NRE families host booths to help us celebrate the diverse cultures represented in our school. Would you like to host a booth and showcase your culture? Reach out to Tiffany Malone at tiffanykmalone@gmail.com to reserve your booth or ask questions!

Booth Ideas:

  • Cultural Booths: Traditional clothing, art, or historical artifacts

  • Interactive Activities: Host a craft project, game, or storytelling sessions

  • Global Cuisine: Small samples of cultural foods - candy, food item or drink

Additionally - the evening will be filled with performances by kids from NRE! If your child would like to share a performance with our community, please email tiffanykmalone@gmail.com for more information.

If you would like to participate in Multicultural Night and need the assistance of a telephonic interpreter, we can connect you to one. Please email Tiffany Malone tiffanykmalone@gmail.com for assistance.

What exactly is Multicultural Night? Check out this fantastic video produced by NRE’s very own 6th grader Simon Emge. This 5 minute video will give a preview of what this amazing night is like!

We need several volunteers for this event as well - please consider helping if possible! A lot of the setup happens during the morning on October 3. Little ones are welcome to tag along with you when you volunteer!

NRE Staff Appreciation: Conference Week

Conference Week is October 6th-10th. This is a great week for the NRE community to express gratitude for all our staff does for our community. PTO is seeking volunteers to help setup/cleanup each day as well as volunteers willing to bring supplies & snack items. Please see the different volunteer needs here. Thanks for your support!

Charleston Wrap: Holiday Gift & Wrapping Paper Fundraiser

New to NRE this year, a holiday gift & wrapping paper fundraiser! Check out this catalogue with several options to get you ready for the holiday season. If students choose to participate in this fundraiser, prizes will be awarded for reaching sales goals. 40% of sales come back to NRE PTO! The fundraiser will be open from October 10-24. More details coming soon!

Restaurant Nights

Local restaurants host “spirit nights” where a designated portion of the proceeds from your order will be generously donated back to NRE PTO. All you have to do is mention NRE when ordering. It’s a win-win-win: you get a night off from making dinner (or treats), local restaurants get our business, and PTO receives a donation! Stay tuned for more dates - we are adding more to the calendar all the time!

A Note from Principal Lehnert ... A Note from Principal Lehnert ...

Dear Northridge Families and Community,

It truly feels as though Fall has finally arrived! Fingers crossed this beautiful weather holds, and summer doesn't try to make a surprise return.

This week brought a surge of excitement to our campus with the visit from the Mountain Vista Spirit Bus! Members of their band, dedicated athletes, and their spirited mascot joined us to ignite enthusiasm for our feeder high school. Our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders enjoyed a special assembly, learning about the many opportunities that await them at Vista. There's just something undeniably cool about a marching band parading through our hallways!

Additionally, our 1st graders had an exciting adventure today on their field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science! This enriching experience brought their Science standards to life, focusing on concepts like how sound creates vibrations, the functions of external parts of organisms, and the fascinating similarities (and differences!) between young and parent organisms. They'll get to further deepen this learning in the Spring with a visit to the Denver Zoo – a fantastic complement to their scientific journey!

Just a reminder that there's no school for students this Monday, but our NRE teachers will be busy with a comprehensive Professional Development day! They'll be engaged in essential district training on our teacher evaluation system and receiving external training on IXL, our digital learning platform. Later, they'll analyze data to establish grade-level goals that align with school and district priorities, strategizing how to track their progress towards their goals. The day wraps up with specialized GT training and collaborative team time – a truly productive day focused on continuous improvement!

On a personal note, as I shared last week, my husband and I celebrated our son's birthday with him, and it was such a joy! We had a blast visiting a pinball arcade – and yes, I dominated the Jaws game all three times (I'm blaming it on the movie being released the year I was born!). Our weekend also included some fun thrift shopping, delicious sushi, and even catching an impromptu breakdancing competition in downtown Fort Collins. Later that night, my son texted us, thanking us for the quality time together. My mama heart was absolutely full!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!

Smiles,

Erin Lehnert
