Message from Principal Harrelson
Hi, Dodd Families!
We are SO proud of our Dinos! They have shown tremendous growth throughout the first grading period, and we are excited to see all they have accomplished! We hope each of our families has a wonderful, restful break filled with time to relax and make special memories together. Enjoy every minute, and we look forward to welcoming our Dinos back on October 19th!

𧑠October Counseling Lessons: Our Choices Make a Difference!π§‘
This month during classroom guidance lessons, our Dinos are learning about friendship, kindness, inclusion, and making responsible choices.
As we celebrate Unity Day (October 21) and Red Ribbon Week (October 26-30), students will learn that the choices we make each day can have an impact on ourselves and those around us.
Each grade level will explore these ideas in a developmentally appropriate way through a story, discussion, and activity:
π¦ Kindergarten β Book: Stick and Stone
Students will learn what it means to be a good friend and practice making kind and caring friendship choices.
π¦1st Grade β Book: The Invisible Boy
Students will explore belonging and discuss ways they can help others feel seen, welcomed, and included.
π¦2nd Grade β Book: What If Everybody Did That?
Students will learn that our choices matter and consider how even small decisions can affect the people and community around us.
π¦3rd Grade β Book: Bully B.E.A.N.S.
Students will discuss bullying prevention and learn ways to be an upstander by speaking up, including others, and getting help when needed.
π¦4th Grade β Lesson: I Can Say No
Students will listen to different scenarios and discuss peer pressure, personal boundaries, and responsible decision-making. They will practice ways to confidently say βnoβ and make safe, healthy choices.
A Note for Families
Classroom guidance lessons are part of our school wide comprehensive counseling program and are provided as Tier I instruction for all students. These lessons focus on age-appropriate skills that support studentsβ educational, personal, and social development in accordance with Texas requirements for comprehensive school counseling programs.
Individual and small-group counseling services are separate from these schoolwide classroom guidance lessons and follow applicable parent notification and consent requirements.
𧑠π¦ Throughout the month, weβll reinforce one important message: Our choices matter! Whether itβs choosing kindness, including someone who feels left out, standing up for others, or making a safe and responsible decision, every Dino has the power to make a positive difference. π¦π§‘
2026 Food Drive
This year, our Food Drive will include a House competition!
β€οΈπ€ππ
Tables will be set up at the front of the school for each House. Students can bring their donated items and place them on their House table to help their House compete!
Along the way, there will also be school-wide prizes students can earn as we work together toward our goal!
The competition makes it fun, but giving back is what itβs all about! Every item donated helps support families right here in our community. Through our Food Drive, we hope our Dinos see firsthand what it means to care for our neighbors, give what we can, and come together as one school family.
