Dear Clara Westropp Families,

Although the weather still feels like summer, fall is officially in the air at Clara Westropp! October is always a busy and exciting month for our school community. As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, we’re embracing the season of growth, gratitude, and learning here at school. Our students have settled into their routines, and it’s been a joy to see their curiosity and enthusiasm blossom each day.

We are so proud of the hard work our students have been doing and look forward to continuing that momentum as we move to the end of the first quarter. The first grading period will end on Friday, October 17. Now is a great time to encourage your child to stay focused, finish assignments, and put forth their best effort.

We are thrilled to announce that Clara Westropp has once again partnered with Ken Ganley Subaru of North Olmsted through their Subaru Loves Learning Initiative. Congratulations to the following teachers who were selected this year: Ms. Groh, Mrs. Mclellon, Ms. Taylor, Mrs. Hildebrandt, Mrs. McHugh and Ms. Tomco. This partnership is providing our classrooms with valuable resources and supplies, building on what’s already in place and further enriching our students’ learning experiences.

Our K-4 students had a blast at our PBIS Fall Bingo Celebration! Thank you for encouraging your children to follow expectations and make positive choices—we love celebrating their success. In addition, our House Teams are off to a strong start this school year, showing teamwork, spirit, and leadership. Students are working hard to earn points for their teams, and the excitement is building as we head deeper into the year.

We know that when schools and families work together, students achieve their best. Your support at home—encouraging good attendance, checking homework, and communicating with teachers—makes a powerful difference. Thank you for being our partners in your child’s education. Together, we can ensure that every student at Clara Westropp continues to grow, succeed, and thrive.

Warmly,

Mrs. Bing

We understand that mornings can be busy—but getting your child to school every day and on time makes a big difference! When students are present and ready to learn from the start of the day, they build strong routines, stay on track with reading and math and their other core subjects, and feel more connected to their classmates and teachers.

Even missing just two days a month or arriving late regularly can add up and make it harder for your child to keep up. Attendance and punctuality help children grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Let’s work together to help your child get the most out of their school year. Every day—and every minute—counts. We’re here to support you!

If your child will be absent, please call the school office as early as possible at 216-838-6250.
Include the following in your message:

  • Child’s name
  • Reason for absence
  • Date of absence

Happy October!

As we are entering cold and flu season, I wanted to send some helpful tips to help keep our Westropp families healthy.

  1. Wash hands or use hand sanitizer before eating, after using the restroom, and when coming inside from being outdoors.

  2. Get your flu shot! Getting the flu shot is the best way to avoid getting the flu virus

  3. Stay home when you are sick. For students, please keep students home who have a temperature of 100.4 or greater (without medicine), a persistent cough, severe sore throat, vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours, or with a severe cold that would limit the student's ability to participate in school.

  4. Use a tissue, or cough into your elbow after coughing or sneezing. Avoid coughing or sneezing into your hands!

  5. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and stay hydrated!
