6th Grade Science Exploring Earth's Systems
This week, our young scientists are diving into the fascinating world of Earth's atmospheric and oceanic systems! Students are analyzing real scientific data using NASA's Earth System Data Explorer to investigate global patterns like jet streams, ocean currents, and temperature variations. We're particularly focusing on how ocean currents and atmospheric circulation patterns distribute heat around our planet. All the works, assignments including the instruction are in schoology page. Make sure to finish your missing assignments before the this quarter deadline.
District Science Fair at the St. Louis Science Center on February 8
Twenty one middle school students attended the District Science Fair at the St. Louis Science Center in St. Louis. There were Science demonstrations, a Robotics competition and Science Fair projects from GSA High School, GSA Middle School, GSA Smiley and GSA South. Judges from Bayer, Washington University, St. Louis University and other companies came to judge the projects and enjoy all that GSA had to offer. All were treated to lunch from the Science Center Cafe and enjoyed an Awards Show in the OmniMax Theater where students received Science Fair medals and Amazon Gift Cards ranging from $15 to $50. Many were invited to move onto the next Science Fair in Chicago, where they will be completing against other Concept Schools students, to be held April 25 and 26. Stay tuned!

Middle School Student Council is excited to announce the launch of its latest service project, the February Canned Food Drive! Here's what you need to know:
- Each grade level at GSA Middle is competing to see who can donate the most ounces of canned goods.
- Cans must be in good condition and not expired to be counted.
- Social Studies teachers’ classrooms will serve as the drop-off locations for each grade.
- The grade that donates the most canned goods by the end of February wins a donut party provided by admin during an advisory period in March!
- All canned goods will be donated to a local food pantry in March.
