Student Safety Reminder – Drop Off & Pick Up

As we return to school, we want to remind everyone that student safety is our top priority at WPJH. Please help us keep our students safe by following these guidelines:

Drop Off & Pick Up

  • Please respect neighboring homes and property, obey traffic laws, and be kind and courteous.

  • Our streets and parking lots can become very congested during drop off and pick up. Please watch carefully for students walking to and from school.

  • Front Loop: Move up as far as you can when dropping off or picking up. This helps traffic flow and allows more cars to pull up to the curb.

  • Our crossing guard, Mr. Roach, will be helping students cross safely—please follow his directions.

  • West Parking Lot: This is the bus loop and must remain clear for buses. Do not drop off, pick up, or park here. It is reserved for buses, faculty, and staff only.

  • Please let buses onto the street and do not park near bus entrances—buses are on tight schedules to get students to and from school safely.

Student Pedestrian & Cyclist Safety

Please talk with your students about staying alert and safe on their way to and from school. Remind them to:

  1. Always use crosswalks and obey traffic signals.

  2. Wear helmets when riding bikes, skateboards, or scooters.

  3. Put phones and earbuds away when crossing streets.

  4. Look left-right-left before crossing.

  5. Walk on sidewalks or, if none, on the left side of the road facing traffic.

  6. Never cross behind buses or between parked cars.

  7. Cross only when a bus driver or crossing guard signals it is safe.

Bike, Scooter & Skateboard Storage

  • Bike racks are located on both the east and west sides of the building.

  • A skateboard and scooter rack is available on the east side.

Supervision

Our SRO will be out as often as possible to help direct traffic and students, but please note that Utah law does not require crossing guards at secondary schools.

Is your student interested in starting a club? Applications are now open!

All clubs at WPJH are led and run by our students. We love seeing our students take an active role in school life, and starting a club is a fantastic way to get involved. It's also a great opportunity to develop leadership skills and make a lasting impact on our school community. Our club leaders stay actively engaged throughout the school year, and we’re excited to see more clubs created this year.

To start a club, students need to choose a club type, find an advisor, and complete and submit an application.

Club applications are due by September 15 at 3:00 p.m.

Joining clubs will take place later during Club Rush. More information will be provided soon, so save the dates: Wednesday, September 24-Friday September 26

  • Undergarments (including straps) must be fully covered.

  • Clothing with holes must still cover from waist to mid-thigh.

  • Sheer or see-through fabric must have appropriate coverage underneath.

  • Shoes must be worn at all times (sandals and flip-flops are fine; house slippers are not). Some classes may require protective footwear.

Enforcement & Application

  • Students will be given the chance to correct dress code issues before administrative action.

  • Standards apply to school days, summer school, and school activities.

  • Athletic wear will follow safety and performance standards, with accommodations for religious practices.

  • Students with concerns about enforcement or accommodations should contact a WPJH administrator.

For Parents & Guardians

This policy was created with input from the PTSA, school leadership team, administration, and student leaders. We encourage families to stay involved through the School Community Council and PTSA as we work together to support student learning and success.
