LMS Friends,

We have arrived at February Break! The year is flying by. We hope the break is a time for students to rest and recharge. When we return, we look to the transition from winter to spring which is always a great time of year.

As we rolled into February Break, we had an excellent spirit week. It started with clash day. From there the popular dress like your teachers/dress like your students day which is always a fun one. Wednesday was sports theme, Thursday LMS Spirit, and Friday we finished up with a cozy comfy Valentine's Day theme. While we were dressing up for our different theme days, the Student Council was responsible for promoting and executing a Souper-Bowl soup can drive. The community was asked to bring in soup and fill boxes for the team they thought would win the Super Bowl. The community did a great job and there were many boxes filled to donate.

We have emphasized some points below around arrival in the morning. Please take a look, so we can get off on the right foot when we return to school on Monday, February 21st. We would like our students in the building no later than 7:30 to start our day.

As we look forward to March, we anticipate 5-12 band and chorus concerts as well as a drama production. These will be exciting events for our students!

The next Scoop will come out March 4th. Enjoy the weekend, have a wonderful break, and if you are traveling please travel safe!

Regards,

John P. D'Entremont, Principal

News, Information & Announcements

Arrival and Morning Announcements 7:30 AM

We have been very flexible with arrival time in the mornings this year as a result of the many changes we have gone through the last year and a half. At this point, we would like to start ensuring students are in advisories by 7:30. Students taking the bus are all set with this! For car riders, you can start dropping students at 7:15. Students are let into the building after 7:21. The vast majority of our students are in their advisories by 7:35, so we believe we can improve upon this as we get going after break. Thank you for your help with this!

Cell Phones and Office Phone

Students should not be texting parents during the school day; especially if they are not feeling well. They should see the nurse if they don't feel well and our nurse will call you if your student needs to be picked up.

For other circumstances, students may ask to use the office phone. Thank you for helping remind students we don't use our cell phones during the school day. We want to keep our focus on learning during the school day! Thank you!

Latest Update by Nancy Pageau

Hello LMS Families!

As we head into February break there is good news:

Covid cases across the country and in NH are starting to decline.

The Pfizer covid vaccines for 6 mos-4yo should receive emergency use approval very soon.

I encourage you to continue to vaccinate your children and get their boosters when they are eligible. If you wish to share their covid card information with me, I can add it to their school immunization records.

Through February, Walk-in Covid Vaccination clinics at the old JCPenney site:

Tuesdays 9:30am-2:00pm

Fridays 12noon-6:00pm

Please keep me updated if medical conditions or medications have changed for your child. This information is very useful when I do an assessment of your child when they visit the nurse. I’m gladly accepting any and all new physicals and immunization records when they are completed. Your child will need an updated physical if they are signing up for any spring sports.

February is American Heart Month- time to focus on ways to promote and maintain heart health.

  • Be Active -Enjoy outdoor or indoor physical activity
  • Eat Heart Healthy- more fruits & vegetables
  • Get enough quality sleep
  • Manage stress - I know….that’s easier said than done. Try meditation, deep breathing and focussing on fun activities

Wishing you all a healthy & restful break,

Nancy Pageau

Students/staff in the pool will be asked to monitor for symptoms and will be tested two days later.

After the follow-up testing, those in the pool will be notified of either the negative or positive result.

Zen Club Update by Carolynn Stockwell

Zen Club has been meeting after school on Wednesdays since October. When we met for the first time, the group decided they wanted to alternate their time between learning yoga and enjoying time with mindful craft/art activities. Each week these young yogis arrive with open-hearts and minds, and together they have created a very Zen, thoughtful community. Our young yogis have been playing yoga games and learning a variety of asanas including surya namaskar, as well experiencing a guided meditation during their savasana at the end of each practice. During our craft weeks they have made things like meditation bracelets and Zen bottles.

Some of the comments from our young yogis are, “I like that after a long day I have a place to get calm”, “I like being able to talk about my life with people that will keep it safe”, “It is a peaceful, get to stay-after-school time”, “I love Savasana!”.

Thanks to these enthusiastic yogis, Zen Club has become one of my favorite parts of the school week!
