We're pleased to announce that Paula Dobson will be our new Director of Student Services, pending Board approval of her contract on October 6, 2025.

Many of you know Ms. Dobson has been our Middle School Principal since 2023 and Associate Principal before that since joining Haslett in 2019. Before coming to Haslett, she worked at Durand Area Schools as Principal and District Special Education and 504 Coordinator from 2015 to 2019, and as a Special Education Teacher from 2010 to 2015.

Ms. Dobson holds endorsements in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, as well as Elementary Education, Language Arts, and Elementary & Secondary Administration. Her experience spans classroom teaching, building leadership, and district-level special education coordination.

To ensure a smooth transition, Ms. Dobson will continue as Middle School Principal while we search for her replacement. Diane Newman will serve as Interim Director of Student Services during this transition period. Ms. Newman previously served in this role before retiring in 2024, and we're grateful for her willingness to return and help ensure a seamless transition for our students and families.

Ms. Dobson’s background and commitment to student success make her well-suited for this expanded role supporting all our students and families. Please join us in congratulating her on this new opportunity. Details about the Middle School Principal search are available on our website.

College and Career Awareness Month 2025 College and Career Awareness Month 2025

October marks College and Career Awareness Month. Haslett Public Schools is proud to collaborate with the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) to help achieve the statewide goal of having 60% of Michigan residents earn a postsecondary certificate or degree by 2030. Throughout the month, students will have opportunities to engage in college and career exploration activities. Currently, 97% of graduates from Haslett High School pursue educational training beyond high school. Below is an overview of how HPS is encouraging students to think about their futures.
