Dear Holly Elementary Families,

Thank you so much for taking the time to attend Parent-Teacher Conferences this week! We truly appreciate your partnership, support, and commitment to your child's education. These conversations provide a valuable opportunity to celebrate student growth, discuss progress, and work together to ensure that every child is successful.

Here are a few important reminders about Halloween at Holly Elementary as we prepare for a fun and festive celebration on Friday, October 30th!

  • Costumes: Students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school! Please have your child arrive at school wearing their costume, as students will not be changing during the school day. Costumes should be school appropriate and should not depict violence.

  • School-Appropriate Costumes: Costumes should be appropriate for school and allow students to participate comfortably in learning and activities throughout the day.

  • No Masks or Weapons: Masks that cover the face, toy weapons, and weapon-like accessories are not permitted.

  • No Inflatable Costumes: Please leave blow-up or inflatable costumes at home.

  • Halloween Parade: We look forward to celebrating with our students during our Halloween parade!

  • Classroom Celebrations: Please watch for communication from your child's classroom teacher regarding specific classroom celebration plans and details for October 30th. .

Thank you for helping us make Halloween a safe, enjoyable, and memorable day for all of our Holly Elementary LEADers!

We are also excited to share information regarding our upcoming Salute To Veterans ceremony at Holly Elementary on Thursday, November 19th. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend filled with all of your favorite things. As always, it is an honor to be your principal.

Lice Letter

Date: 2026/2027

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are sending this letter to all parents to increase head lice awareness, so that you may take steps at home to help prevent your child from becoming infested with head lice. Any time children come together, particularly at the start of the school year or following any social grouping like sports, after school events, or sleepovers, detected head lice cases commonly increase. Recent studies show that head lice are seldom spread in the school setting.

Direct, physical, head-to-head contact is the usual method of transmission. Lice do not jump or fly. They survive only for a short time away from the human head and have difficulty crawling or clinging to smooth surfaces. Check your child’s head weekly for lice and/or nits (eggs). Mature lice, which are no bigger than a sesame seed, avoid light and are hard to see. Lice eggs or “nits” are usually found close to the scalp – usually within one quarter inch. They appear as tiny whitish ovals that are “glued” to the hair shaft. They cannot easily be flicked away as dandruff can. Head lice do not transmit disease and are not a serious medical condition. They cannot survive on your pets.

If you find head lice on your child, please notify the school and treat him/her with lice shampoo following package instructions. A second treatment may be required in seven to ten days. Continue to examine the child and all family members for three weeks and treat only if live lice or if nits are found one quarter inch or less from the scalp.

Check Regularly – Treat Quickly

Help Keep Head Lice Off Your Child

  • Check your child’s head weekly for signs of head lice.

  • Teach your child not to share or trade personal items such as hats, combs, brushes, headbands, and barrettes.

  • Contain long hair in braids or ponytails, especially in younger children.

  • Teach children to avoid head-to-head contact.

For more information regarding head lice or its treatment, please feel free to contact the school office or your local health department.

Thank you for your help and support.

Sincerely,

Nurse Jessica
