Mundelein High School's CCRC Updates!
The Mustang Round Up! Register to attend!
MHS Alumni are coming back to talk to YOU about their college experiences on TUESDAY November 25!
We will have Ambassadors here representing Butler University, Carleton College, DePaul University, Illinois State University, Indiana University, Iowa State University, St. Mary’s University, The University of Illinois (UIUC), The University of Iowa, The University of Mississippi, and The University of South Carolina.
These students are currently majoring in Accounting, Acting, Advertising, Aerospace Engineering, AI, Biochemistry, Biology, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering Physics, Film Production, Human Biology, Marketing, Music Education, Psychology, Public Relations, Studio Arts and more!
They can talk to you about choosing your college, scholarships and money, picking a major, clubs and activities, living situations, food situations, homework, classes, textbooks, and so much more! They offer an amazing perspective as students who have graduated from MHS within the past 4 years and are current freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in college!
We invite our current MHS students to join us in the CCRC to talk to these remarkable students throughout the day. We are hosting focused discussions to encourage some useful conversation and we hope that you will leave feeling ready for anything!
Students, please register in your SchooLinks account for any session you wish to attend!

College Highlight - Erin Monroe from The University of Iowa!
In this segment, we highlight an admissions representative that works with our MHS students. Learn about the people that can help you through your application process below!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your higher education experience.
I started working for the University of Iowa Office of Admissions right after graduation and love working for my alma mater. Over my ten years in college admissions, I have had a variety of roles, living in Iowa City, California, and now Chicago! I have been fortunate enough to travel to recruit students in 22 states and internationally (Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan)!
What is your favorite thing about working in admissions?
The students! Each student has their own unique journey and I take great pride in helping students navigate the college process to find their fit!
What excites you most about working for your current institution?
Cheering on the Hawkeyes and hearing the stories of students who have visited and loved their time in Iowa City.
What is the coolest place on campus?
One of my favorite places on campus is the rooftop deck at Voxman, which is our School of Music building. Peaceful, serene and a great environment to study!
What advice do you have for our MHS students?
Visit campus and explore the community that surrounds campus as well! Of course you are looking for an institution that is a good financial, academic, and social fit, but it is also a place that you are going to call home for 4 years! Make sure that it is a community that will support you and foster growth.
If your campus was represented by a food, what would it be and why?
Airliner Pizza! There are lots of different choices for toppings just like we have for majors, student experiences, and organizations.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Completing the FAFSA, Alternative Aid Application, or a waiver, is an Illinois State Graduation REQUIREMENT!
Class of 2026: The 26-27 FAFSA is open! Keep in mind that each contributor (student and one or both parents or stepparent, depending upon circumstances) will require their own Studentaid.gov ID, available here. This should be created at least 3 days before completing the FAFSA.
Every Wednesday, our ISAC representative Denver Keske is available in person at MHS to work with our students and parents, right here in our CCRC! She is also available virtually at many other times. Please see the ISAC Room in the MHS Virtual CCRC to find her scheduling links!
Remember that about 270 undergraduate institutions also require the CSS Profile, which also opened on October 1. It is crucial that our students not miss their financial aid deadlines, which will vary by institution and application round.
If you haven’t yet, we strongly encourage you to look at the resources in our Paying For College virtual room. In this space you can also access our FAFSA page for helpful information on completing your FAFSA. We also have access to past presentations (if you missed them) in our Resource Library.
Please review THIS DOCUMENT for more information about this Public Act. Check out our FAFSA Mandate FAQ to find some answers to frequently asked questions.
