TCE TIGER TALK Newsletter
April 2026
April 1, 2026
Mr. David Beard will be retiring at the end of this school year. He has been the principal of Tiger Creek since school year 2014-2015! He has done a fabulous job of leading our school and he will be missed. Mrs. Beard & him have lots of fun traveling plans and we wish them the best! He is passing the baton to Mrs. Dills!
Mrs. Jayme Dills will become our principal of TCE starting school year 2026-2027! She has been our assistant principal for the last three years and we are super excited that she will be our new principal!
If you see Mr. Beard or Mrs. Dills, please give them both a big congratulations on their new roles!
Beard's Bulletin:
It’s hard to believe, but the end of the school year is just around the corner! Once we’re back from Spring Break, things will definitely start moving fast.
Just a heads-up: the Georgia Milestones testing begins only two weeks after we return. To help your students feel confident and do their best, please help them get plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast before their testing sessions. We’ve worked hard to make the testing environment as student-friendly and stress-free as possible, so having them here every day of testing is super important!
We hope you have a wonderful, relaxing Spring Break, and we can’t wait to see
everyone back on April 6th!
Mr. David Beard,
TCE Principal

The Dish with Mrs. Dills!
As we welcome the month of April, we want to take a moment to reflect on the hard work and dedication that has gone into this school year. With spring in the air, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the progress our students have made and gear up for the exciting opportunities ahead!
Georgia Milestones Testing: April 20-23
We want to give a special shout-out to our 3rd through 5th graders who have worked tirelessly all year. Their dedication and effort are about to shine as they take the Georgia Milestones assessments from April 20th to April 23rd. Our teachers have been working diligently to prepare every student for success, and we know they are ready to tackle this important milestone.
To ensure that each student has the best possible opportunity to succeed, please help us by adhering to the following guidelines:
Do not schedule appointments or trips during the testing week: It’s important that students are present each day of testing.
Make sure your child is at school by 7:50 AM: This ensures they have time to settle in and start the day ready to focus.
No early dismissals: Please avoid picking up your child early during testing days to help minimize disruptions.
Breakfast is essential: A nutritious breakfast helps set students up for a successful testing experience. Either ensure your child has a good breakfast at home, or arrive in time for breakfast at school.
We are confident that our students are well-prepared, and with your support, they’ll continue to thrive. Let’s work together to make this a smooth and successful testing week!
Mrs. Jayme Dills,
TCE Assistant Principal

Staff Spotlight!
TCE has several groups of Support Staff that help our students, their families, our teachers & our staff. These particular three are some of our Special Education Parapros that go in and work with homeroom teachers with students who need more specialized instruction. They also help out with a lot of other things that keep our school running smoothly! TCE would not function without all their hard work!
Haynes's Counselor Corner
April Character Trait: HONOR
Mrs. Faith Cole of Helping Hands Ending Hunger provided a cooking demonstration for TCE students featuring practical meals that kids can make at home, such as beans and rice. A grant from the American Heart Association has allowed Mrs. Cole to provide crockpots and cooking utensils to students for the lessons. Students enjoyed discussing foods they like to cook and tasting the food samples provided. Thanks you Mrs. Cole for the visit!
Beatrice Owens in Mrs. McNair's second grade class chose lizards for her reading assignment, and featured Rexie in her drawing. The picture was so good, she got a whole lot of attention from the lizard tank! For real--we did not pose this picture! How cool is that!

Title 1 Parent Invovlement Coordinator News
Thank you to all the guardians that completed our Title 1 Parent Survey. We had 127 people filled it out covering 164 of our students. I will be sharing the results of the survey in the Spring Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Meeting on April 8th, in the May Newsletter and it will be added to the school website soon.
Each student whose guardian filled it out received a candy treat. At the end of the survey, I printed off all the names of those students and Mrs. Dills drew a name from each grade level. These 7 students got to picked a toy from my collection.
Congrats to:

The Spring PAC presentation will post online on April 8th and will be shared through school text, Class Dojo and posted on the school website. Thank you in advance for taking your time and viewing the presentation and giving input. Tiger Creek CARES
Tiger Creek collected hygiene items for CCPS CARES Day on March 18th and new/gently used books for the first Catoosa Reads Day that will take place at the Catoosa Library on April 23rd. Thank you to all who helped give back to others! Your KINDNESS goes farther than you think!
Tiger Creek QUEST
Our very own Mrs. Parscale and her TCE Quest students participated in the Georgia Teacher of the Year's Statewide Day of Service which coincided with Catoosa CARES Day on March 18th. They did a project where they gave back to one of our school partners! These creative students designed & made their own "Get Well" Stickers which they gave to Promise Pediatrics to give out to patients! If your child goes to Promise Pediatrics they may just receive one of these one of a kind stickers!

3rd-5th graders will be taking Georgia Milestones the week of
April 20-23.
Here are some things you can do at home to help your child!
1. Prioritize Sleep
Ensure your child gets 9–11 hours of sleep each night.
Set a consistent bedtime and avoid screens at least 30–60 minutes before bed.
2. Fuel with a Healthy Breakfast
Provide protein-rich foods like eggs, yogurt, peanut butter, or oatmeal.
Avoid sugary cereals or heavy meals that could cause energy crashes.
3. Stay Hydrated
Encourage drinking water throughout the day to keep their brain functioning well.
4. Keep Mornings Stress-Free
Prepare clothes, backpacks, and lunch the night before.
Arrive at school on time to avoid rushing and anxiety.
5. Encourage a Positive Mindset
Remind them that tests are just one way to show what they know.
Avoid adding pressure—praise their effort, not just their scores.
6. Teach Relaxation Techniques
Practice deep breathing or counting to ten if they feel nervous.
Encourage stretching or light exercise in the morning to reduce stress.
7. Remind Them to Follow Directions
Encourage them to listen carefully to instructions and read questions thoroughly.
Teach them to double-check their work if they have extra time.
8. Celebrate Their Hard Work
Plan a small reward after testing (e.g., a fun activity, special meal, or extra playtime).
Reinforce that their value is not determined by a test score!

School Safety Minute
Hello Parents, Students and Staff!
We are in the home stretch of wrapping this year up. As part of our continuous efforts to ensure the safety of the students, staff, and visitors, we would like to remind everyone the importance of pedestrian safety within the school zone. With increased activities around the school entrances and nearby streets, it is crucial that we work together to maintain the safety of everyone!
1-Parking and Drop off Areas- Avoid double parking or stopping in non designated areas. When parking please do not obstruct any sidewalks or crosswalks, as it could be hazardous to pedestrians.
2-Speed Limits and Safety Signs: Please obey all speed limits within the school zone, particularly during school arrival and dismissal times. The school speed limit is posted and these limits are strictly being enforced.
3-Stay Alert-Drivers should be vigilant and watch for pedestrians as well as the Deputy conducting traffic during high traffic times. Please avoid any distractions , make eye contact and obey commands by the Safety Officer before accelerating.
We greatly appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us make our school zone a safe environment for ALL! Thank you for your continued support!
PLEASE REMEMBER:
You must have your ID to enter the building.

Tiger Creek's Chorus Spring Musical - Disney's Moana Jr March 2026
The Spring Musical of Moana Jr. was a huge success! The TCE Chorus did an outstanding job with their 2 night performance of Moana Jr.! We are so proud of our music teacher Mrs. Clinton and all of our chorus members. They have amazing talent and we can't wait to see what they do next year!
The Chorus visited Lantern at Morning Pointe East Hamilton campus to do a performance of the Spring Musical for the residents. Many of the Lantern residents helped to make the chorus costumes for the musical.
TCE wants to say a huge THANK YOU to these ladies from East Hamilton Lantern for helping make the chorus costumes!

Notes from Nurse Sherri
We are what we eat...Superfoods for superkids!! Not only will washing your hands with soap and water for 30 seconds help keep germs and viruses controlled so you don’t get sick, but did you know that eating "superfoods" can also help our bodies stay healthy too?
There are "superfoods", like fruits and vegetables that contain antioxidants that are able to fight infection and some diseases. Like washing your hands everyday, eating some of these food everyday can help keep our bodies healthy as well.
Among these foods are oranges, brussel sprouts, butternut squash, avocados and blueberries. The sprouts and squash can be roasted in the oven or the berries added to yogurt. You can squeeze an orange onto a piece of chicken or fish for extra zest or add avocado slices to a sandwich. Healthy eating is just one of the ways we can stay healthy.
Healthy lifestyle includes eating fruits and vegetables, drinking water instead of sugary drinks and staying active by moving your body. Let's stay healthy so we can enjoy this beautiful spring weather!
