First, I would like to thank our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teachers, students, parents, and DK PIE for all their support with our field trips this week. 7th and 8th grade went to MI Adventures Thursday and our 6th grade is still in Chicago as we speak. It's awesome that our students get that opportunity to have those amazing experiences!

6th-8th Grade Band Camp at Camp Michawana 6th-8th Grade Band Camp at Camp Michawana

On Friday, May 23rd, our 6th through 8th grade band students spent a fun-filled day at Camp Michawana. They departed in the morning and returned before the end of the school day. During their trip, students enjoyed activities like swimming, canoeing, ziplining, and rock climbing.

This special trip was for students who earned an A or B in band class. Mrs. Knight, their band instructor, was excited to see her students enjoy some well-deserved outdoor fun after their hard work.

It was a great chance for the students to relax, have fun, and celebrate their good grades.

🎉 Girls ROX End-of-Year Celebration! 🎉 🎉 Girls ROX End-of-Year Celebration! 🎉

This year, the Girls ROX (Reclaiming Our Experiences) 7th grade group came together to grow, support one another, and build lifelong skills. At our end-of-year celebration, we reflected on all we've learned — from communicating assertively and using our voices to advocate for ourselves and others, to building confidence and developing powerful tools for navigating life.

These young women showed incredible growth as they became more empowered, resilient, and ready to take on the world. We are so proud of the positive energy, strength, and leadership that each girl brought to this journey.

Here's to continuing ROX — today and always!

Big Fish, Big Fun: Mrs. Estep’s Fishing Challenge Big Fish, Big Fun: Mrs. Estep’s Fishing Challenge

Over the holiday weekend, Mrs. Estep challenged her students to catch the biggest fish while enjoying their favorite fishing spots. Five students sent pictures of the fish they caught while spending time outside with family and friends. Ethan showed off the big bluegill he caught, while Daxton, Cam, and David caught bass of different sizes. In the end, Gavin won the challenge with an impressive 20-inch bass. Each ot them caught their fish in a different lake or pond around the area, but would not share their prized fishing spot. Way to go, everyone! Enjoy the tasty dinner!

Ready for Middle School: 4th Grade Orientation Visit Ready for Middle School: 4th Grade Orientation Visit

On Thursday, May 29th, our 4th grade students came over for a middle school orientation. They toured the building and met the 5th grade teachers.

Mr. Tillman, our principal, led the orientation, joined by Mrs. Collins, our counselor, and Mrs. Rhoda, our behavior safety liaison. They shared helpful tips and answered questions to help the students feel more comfortable and excited about the transition. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to get familiar with the middle school environment before they move up next year!

We cannot wait to see them at our school in the 2025-2026 school year!
