2025 CTE Summer Camp Summary
Clackamas Community College (CCC) hosted seven Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summer Camps in August of 2025, allowing students to participate in hands-on, in-person camps and earn college credit. The regional Carl D. Perkins grant primarily funded the camps, with additional support provided by the CCC Foundation, Clackamas ESD, Career Pathways grant, and the IGNITE Healthcare grant. The in-person camps were free for students, with grant funds supporting the cost of instruction and materials, transportation, and lunch.
CTE summer camps were available to Clackamas County students entering 9th-12th grade in Fall 2025. Camps were advertised widely in high schools throughout Clackamas County. Promotion of camps included sending fliers to all high schools in the County, information on the CTE Summer Camp webpage and CCC social media, outreach to local high school counselors and administrators, and camp advertisements.

Northwest Connect Career Hub is Live. Join Now!
In the last newsletter we announced the impending launch the launch of the Northwest Connect Career Hub, a new regional platform for Oregon and Southwest Washington designed to connect educators, students, and industry partners across the Portland-Metro area. Replacing the former Clackamas Connect Career Hub, this enhanced web-based system makes it easier than ever to build partnerships that bring real-world learning into the classroom.
Through the Hub, educators can quickly find guest speakers, site tours, job shadows, and internships that align with their CTE programs. Just click on the "Search Directory" link Employers can post opportunities, determine what level of engagement that can participate, and help shape the future workforce, all through one streamlined platform.
The Northwest Connect Career Hub is free for both schools and businesses/industry partners. I encourage you to create an account. All users must be associated with a school so please use your work email when signing up. Only registered users are able to connect with member industry partners. We will be adding more partners to the directory each week.
The Northwest Connect Career Hub is a collaboration of the Clackamas Career Technical Education Consortium, Clackamas Education Service District, Clackamas Community College, the Clackamas Workforce Partnership, and the South Metro-Salem STEM Partnership
Secondary Career Pathways
Allocations are determined by a “point” system for qualifying programs. To qualify, programs must be approved CTE Programs of Study offering at least 3 credits and lead to high wage and in-demand jobs. Points are awarded by programs as follows:
❖ 1 point for any student who has earned 3 or more credits in a high wage and high
demand CTE Program of Study
❖ 1 point if that student is historically underserved (an English language learner, a student of color, an economically disadvantaged student or a student with disabilities--OAR 581-017-0287)
❖ 1 point if a student has earned an approved Industry Recognized Credential--this data is derived from CTE reporting of the year prior to the award
The Numbers:
- Statewide, there were 820 programs that received Career Pathways allocations for this school year, an increase of 71 programs, compared to Year 2 of the last biennium.
- There was a minimum allocation of $2000, the cut off for these programs was 16 or fewer points. Statewide there were 390 programs earning the minimum allocation
- There was a maximum allocation of $45,000. The program with this allocation earned 371 points. Statewide there was 1 program earning the maximum allocation.
- For programs falling between 17-370 points, the per point value was $124.67
- Total amount of grant for 2024-25 is $4,224,000, approximately $500,000 less than last year.
- Clackamas County had 53 program earn points for Secondary Career Pathways Grant funds for a total of $320,409.
Grant allocations have been shared with you CTE administrators. Once budgets have been completed by the administrators, they will be submitted to ODE for approval.
CTE Program of Study 4-Year Renewal Meetings Scheduled
Every four years, CTE Programs of Study are required to go through a renewal process and be approved by ODE. This is a great opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of your program
This will be an in-person meeting and you should have everything you need to complete your renewal with your school’s CTE administrator by the end of the meeting. Due to the timing (after school), food will be provided at the meeting.
The consortium’s schedule for this process has not yet been set for each of the specific programs but generally take place in the month of April.
Here are the programs that are scheduled for renewal:
- Business: April 9, 4:30 - 6:30
- Construction: April 14 , 4:30 - 6:30
- Computer Programming: April 16 , 4:30 - 6:30
- Manufacturing" April 21 , 4:30 - 6:30
Meetings will be at the Clackamas ESD
Emails will go out this week to teachers and administrators with instructions and a calendar invite
Welding Work-Based Learning Opportunity - Final Call
Welding Project-Based Learning Competition
The competition challenges student teams to design and fabricate a metal sculpture that represents school pride. This project promotes hands-on skill development, teamwork, and real-world application through CTE pathways, with guidance from local industry professionals. It also supports teachers by providing a meaningful work-based learning (WBL) framework, which connects classroom instruction to industry standards, deepens student engagement, and strengthens school-employer partnerships.

2025-26 Perkins Budget Update
ODE has reviewed each district's Perkins proposed expenditures for the 2025-26 school year. The vast majority of line items have been approved. The federal Perkins law required equipment and software to be procured by December 1st. Please work with you school's/district's CTE administrator to ensure you are making those purchases in a timely manner.
As new equipment is purchased for the school year, any item costing $200 or more and funded with Perkins federal dollars must have an inventory sticker and be recorded in the school’s Perkins Equipment Inventory spreadsheet. Speak with your school's CTE administrator if you need an inventory sticker.
Student Opportunities
Mobile Career Technical Education from the Oregon National Guard
The Army and Air National Guard have a mobile team that brings real-world career fields such as healthcare, mechanical maintenance, cyber/IT, networking, engineering, construction, aviation, culinary, law enforcement, robotics, and more directly to your campus. Think of it as a mobile CTE lab that connects classroom learning to in-demand technical careers. These “show and tell” events support your district’s efforts in career exploration, workforce development, and school-to-work readiness, and they are becoming a popular way for students to learn about the trades.
For scheduling, please send me two potential dates and times that work best for your school or schools; a 45–90 minute period works well. We will then coordinate which specialists and equipment to bring to best support your students’ programs and interests. We can also present an Academy and College Military Information Night that highlights our 100 percent college scholarships.

Explore Engineering Communities
These sessions highlight student organizations and community-based groups that support underserved and underrepresented students in STEM. Students will learn how these groups have contributed to building a sense of belonging, mentorship, and support within the College of Engineering. The following student organizations will host a session:
National Society of Black Engineers
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
Society of Women Engineers
Native American and Indigenous Engineers
Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers
