The Odyssey Program
Leadership defined for today, tomorrow and beyond...
WHAT IS THE ODYSSEY PROGRAM?
PREPARATION for the JOURNEY AHEAD
The Odyssey Program is a bridge from the security of the Challenge Program to the
bright opportunities of the future! The Odyssey adventure year allows your student to take bold new steps toward self-reliance, self-assurance, and confidence with the support of trusted Mentors and CC leadership. In partnership with Southeastern University, an accredited private, Christian university, The Odyssey Program provides Challenge IV graduates the opportunity to begin their college coursework while participating in a leadership and personal development program, launching them into leadership and life!
WHO is an ODYSSEY STUDENT?
AN EXPRESSION and EXPANSION of STUDENT LEADERSHIP
THE 5 ASPECTS OF THE ODYSSEY PROGRAM
Biblical Leadership
Students will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills in the areas of service, planning and executing excursions, continued student-led conversations and devotional time, group projects and more! Through the study of biblical examples of leadership, deep engagement with the core virtues and increased opportunities for student led activities, students emerge more prepared to lead in their communities, workplaces and families.
Spiritual Growth
Students will explore integrated spiritual topics each week in community through bible study, applied commentary and application, and by using a variety of other sources that will help them grow firm in their faith. Odyssey students dive deep into cultural and spiritual issues within the safety of their community .
Practical Skills & Personal Development
Students will learn practical skills such as budgeting, planning, balancing work, academic and personal life demands, being dependable for the benefit of others, and the organizational strategies to succeed in each of those areas. In addition to the skills necessary to become successful students, all Odyssey participants will learn to apply organizational principles to school, travel and life.
Experiential Learning
Students will gather in person with other students and mentors on FOUR domestic excursions to build relationships, learn and practice new skills, build on Odyssey lessons, and experience new places in new ways with their cohorts.
CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
As believers, we know we grow better- together. Odyssey continues on in the spirit of the Classical Conversations model, providing students a familiar place to step out and experience new places, circumstances and people. -Proverbs 27:17
A THRIVING PARTNERSHIP with SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY
All CC Plus programs are supported by the regionally accredited, Southeastern University. With the highest level of accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges
(SACSCOC), SEU provides a quality education from a well-respected private, Christian university. This high- level, regional accreditation allows for easy transferability of credits should a student wish to transfer to another institution.
*It is the responsibility of the student to ensure credit transfers to each institution of interest. For more information on transfer of credits, speak with a mentor or academic advisor.
ACADEMICS
With SEU Online
WHAT COURSES ARE AVAILABLE TO ODYSSEY STUDENTS?
Odyssey students are enrolled as online undergraduate students and are able to take a great variety
of courses! The academic advisor will work closely with students to understand their goals and needs to create an individual degree plan that is focused on their interests and passions. Whether they have concurrent education credits (traditional CC Plus) already or will be starting fresh, there will be courses available to propel them toward their degree and experience goals. Mentors and advisors will work with students and families to achieve the perfect fit for every student.
The integration of four specific SEU courses into the Odyssey Program coursework allows students to continue on in a familiar setting of academics and discussion, assisting in deepening their understanding and experience.
The Odyssey Program not only provides every student with an unforgettable life experience, the hours spent participating in all aspects of the program can be used for college credit as part of the Divine Design component of every SEU degree.
With Odyssey Community
In the Odyssey Program, students engage with weekly lessons, projects, and student-led discussions that focus on the five aspects of the program. With scripture and other CC curated resources as the core of the Odyssey academic program, Biblical Leadership & Deep Discipleship, Spiritual Growth, Personal Development, and Practical Skills assignments bring about transformative results for Challenge graduates. Favorite authors CS Lewis, Francis Schaeffer, and Nancy Pearcey inspire wisdom, a variety of assessments inspire self-reflection, and projects inspire practical application for students- All of which are approached with a primary focus on the authority of scripture for the purpose of growing individual faith and the unity of a community of believers.
FINANCIAL AID
SEU Online and the ODYSSEY PROGRAM
All SEU courses and other course related costs are paid directly to the university through student accounts. All financial aid questions should be directed to SEU rather than Odyssey. Each applicant will have unique circumstances that the experts at SEU are able to handle quickly and efficiently. Financial aid (FAFSA and scholarships) and college savings plan distributions (529 and others) are agreements between the university and individuals and The Odyssey Program has no capability to speak or act on behalf of students.
Payments for the Odyssey portion of the program are paid directly to CC Plus, either in total at the beginning of the program or quarterly by the specified due dates. Questions about payments not dependent on financial aid should not be directed to site FA.
* The Odyssey Program is not able to assist in the application for financial aid.
** FAFSA and other payment programs apply only to the SEU course costs. The Odyssey portion of the program cannot be discounted or included in financial aid programs.
