Trail Blazer Bulletin August 8

Dear Trail Blazer Community
Let me share with you the main items you need to know to help your student to be successful on the first day of school.
First Day of School: August 12th (A Day)
Schedules
Please login to HAC on Monday, August 12th and take a screenshot of your schedule before you leave home. Paper schedules will NOT be handed out this year.
We will have staff in the hallway directing traffic and helping students find their classes. Please click here to view a short video on “how to view your schedule in HAC.”
**The only students who have a class at the district's (CTE)Career & Technology Education Center are those who see "@CTEC" at the end of the course description printed on the schedule and a room number starting with "X". All students taking classes at the CTE received communications from that campus and are encouraged to read the information carefully before the first day of school.
February 19th was the deadline to request schedule changes, as stated in the FISD Academic Guide; the only exceptions are for band, choir, orchestra, athletics, debate, drill team, color guard & academic decathlon. Students with an allowable change request need to come by the Counseling Office; before school, after school, or during passing periods, to receive a Schedule Change Form.
**Students will not be permitted to attend classes on the first day of school without a complete online registration, a valid proof of residence on file, and a CLEAR from the 2023-2024 Hold List.
Please note, Per State Law any students who are absent on the first day of school will be withdrawn. Students who don’t submit their Proof of Residency by Wednesday, August 14th will be withdrawn. Students who don’t complete their returning student registration will be withdrawn on August 12th.
Student Pick Up and Drop Off
Click here to access the FISD Transportation site which includes bus and route information. Parents and students can use the My Ride K-12 platform to access students’ bus information.
Additionally, staff members will be available to help students find their bus after school.
Please see the map below. The front entrance will be the only point of entry during drop off.
Students dropped off at the north side of the building should walk around to the front entrance.
- Parents can help the traffic flow by following the map and being patient with one another. Once all parents learn the routine, things will go much more smoothly.
- Dropping off your student in the parking lot adds to the congestion entering and exiting our lot. Keep all students safe by following the map.
Morning Arrival
We open the front doors daily by 8:20am.
After 9:00 am, the front door will be the only entrance. Until 8:30 students are asked to wait in the cafeteria, and asked to be seated at the cafeteria tables as they wait. After 8:30 students may continue to wait in the cafeteria, attend tutorials with a teacher, or utilize the resources available in the library.
Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria until 8:55am.
Students arriving after 9:00 will need to use the doorbell; returning students will need to show their school IDs and freshman students will inform the receptionist of their ID number. Once their IDs have been verified they will be allowed to enter the building.
Student Parking & Parking Permits
Student parking lots are on the south side, and northeast side of the building (outside the band hall and by the football field).
Students who commute during the day to Collin or the CTE will be required to enter the building through the front entrance and show their ID utilizing the front doorbell system.
All student drivers utilizing the school parking lots are required to purchase a parking sticker for the 2024-2025 school year.
Your student may purchase a parking sticker by completing the Parking Permit Form. Please submit payment by visiting onlineschoolfees.com and submitting the required documents. Your student may then pick up the parking sticker in the Front Office with the appropriate ID.
Failure to purchase a permit may result in extra fines and/or loss of parking privileges. If students park in designated staff or visitor parking places they will be stickered and required to move their car during the school day.
Video Door Monitoring
Beginning on the first day of school, August 12th all visitors to Lebanon Trail HS will use the newly installed video door monitor to request access to the building or to check a student out. The front door will be monitored by LT staff before and after school. During the day, the front door, along with every exterior door will be locked. Students must present a student ID to enter school during the day and parents will present a driver’s license at the door monitor. We appreciate your patience and grace as we work through this new process in an effort to keep our students and staff safe.
Door Monitor Instructions:
Press the ring bell and wait for a response;
The ring will light up and you will hear a doorbell chime.
There may be a pause before you receive a response.
When you hear a response:
Hold your ID close to the camera
State your reason for visiting Lebanon Trail HS
If you are picking up a student:
If your driver’s license has previously been scanned, please wait outside or in your vehicle for your student.
You will be asked to enter the office if your driver’s license has not been scanned.
Report your student’s absence using the Report an Absence feature on the LTHS website or by replying to the attendance email.
** Lebanon Trail HS staff cannot accept items dropped off for students.
Charge and Update Chromebooks
All students need to charge and power on Chromebooks/laptops and update the Chrome OS browser prior to the first day of school. This will help alleviate strain on campus networks and WiFi the first week of school.
** Don’t forget to bring your fully charged Chromebook and charging cable with you to the first day of school.
To update Chrome on a Chromebook
In the bottom right, select the time Settings .
On the bottom left, select About ChromeOS.
Under "Google ChromeOS," you’ll see which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook uses.
Select Check for updates.
If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
After your download is done, select Restart to finish the update.

Parents and students please be aware that the Lebanon Trail administration will be intentional about enforcing the FISD Dress Code. In order to attend their regular classes, students will be required to be in full compliance with this policy.
Students in violation of the student dress code will be expected to change to appropriate attire (provided by the school when possible) when violations occur. Students will Not be allowed to leave campus for the purpose of changing clothes.

Student Spotlight
Congratulations to John Abraham, 10th grade. John had a busy summer and is entering his second year in our NJROTC program. He took initiative to write a submission to the Naval Horizons Essay Contest, hosted US Navy each year. After researching guidelines, requirements, and prior submissions, Cadet Abraham submitted an essay regarding Automated Weaponry and was a recipient of a $200 cash prize. Since then, he also was one of our cadets to attend Leadership Training in June, at Tarleton State University with over 200 cadets from all over North Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Way to lead by example, John!

School Supplies
The first day of school, students will need writing utensils, paper, a chromebook and a folder/binder. Many students choose to organize themselves with a separate A-day and B-day binder with a folder inside each binder for each individual class that day. Teachers will offer additional guidance for each class during the first few weeks of school.
Calculators are provided to students to use during class for all relevant classes. Students are not required to purchase a personal calculator. If a student elects to purchase their own calculator, the TI84 calculator is a strong choice and is used in every level of Math at FISD.
