"FAVORITES '25" Deer Hill Student Art Exhibit: Hosted and presented by Ms. Berman, each student has chosen his/her favorite artwork of the year to be included in this exhibit. The gala opening reception will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2024, from 7-8:30pm. We will also be celebrating the grand unveiling of a very special 5th grade clay tile art installation. There will be refreshments and music. All are invited to attend. You won't want to miss it!
From the Mosaic Planning Committee: On behalf of the Mosaic Committee, we would like to thank you all for supporting this year's event. Our success would not have been possible without you all showing up and sharing a piece of your culture with the Cohasset community. We would also like to thank the Woods Hole School of Dance and the Canton Middle School Step Team for sharing their incredible talent with us.
Let's continue to build our Cohasset community together.
Thanks again!

Deer Hill's Class Placement Process: Deer Hill's class placement process for entering grade 4 and grade 5 students has informally begun. More formal planning will begin after break where staff will have multiple meetings spanning several days to build thoughtful class cohorts. Please see this placement letter (updated from last year) which outlines our process in greater detail, including the role of families.
Grade 5 Transition to Cohasset Middle School: Recently grade 5 families received a letter from John Mills, principal of Cohasset Middle School, that details important dates as students make the transition to 6th grade. Here is a copy of that letter for your reference.
Follow CPS on Facebook: Cohasset Public Schools has a new Facebook page. Thanks for following us and stay tuned for more content as we get up and running.
Deer Hill Happenings
Techsploration at Deer Hill: On Thursday all students enjoyed a science assembly on the topic of Forces and Motion. Our 4th graders then participated in hands on workshops that explored these concepts with greater depth. Thank you to our PSO for sponsoring this opportunity for our school!

Mrs. Moser's 4th grade scientists
Ms. Kelliher's 4th grade scientists
Community Experts: Deer Hill loves when family and community members visit to share about their careers and passions. Last Friday, Mr. Cidlowski, Evie's dad, joined Mrs. Holland's class to talk about what it's like to work at Lego. Third graders were thrilled that his presentation included time to build with Legos!
Hugo in the House
Hugo on Instagram: Keep up with Hugo's adventures on his Instagram account, @Hugo.Dogberry
Hugo About Town: Hugo loves seeing his Deer Hill friends out in the community. This week he took in a high school softball game where he got to say hi to Deer Hill members of the town softball team. He must have been a good luck charm -- they won!
CPS Purposeful Play & Risk Challenge
Each month Superintendent Shannon includes a suggestion for purposeful play and developmentally appropriate risk. Below is our new April challenge!
Keeping up with our Anxious Generation purposeful play and responsible risk taking challenges, I am inviting you to join in on our April activities. This month, our challenges are:
Purposeful Play Challenge
Let's get creative this month! With April vacation around the corner, many families will have some downtime to fill. Ask your children to invent a new game and then play it with them!
Responsible Risk Taking Challenge
This month is all about learning to use a new tool! Help your children learn to use a hammer, screwdriver, whittling knife, or saw. Build a birdhouse together, whittle a stick, or build a plant box (and then plant something). The level at which you provide independence for your child on this project should be adapted given their age and ability.
