Counselors have started to meet with students INDIVIDUALLY to discuss students' course choices, their post-secondary interests, and graduation requirements to ensure they have chosen the correct classes. We anticipate having met with all of our students by the end of February. During this extremely busy scheduling season we ask that you are patient as we work diligently to meet with all 450+ of our students individually!

Class of 2026 Update

Hey Class of 2026,

Now that it is actually 2026, I'm guessing graduation feels much more real to you than it did before break. It certainly does to me! Finish the semester strong and then get a great start on your last semester of high school, which starts January 27th.

Two things today. The first one is that during the week of January 27th, I'll be completing midyear reports for students who need them on Common App. If any of your schools have requested a midyear report, please let me know that so I can make sure I do it. I have a list going-you just need to e-mail me and request that I fill out a midyear report for you. Sometimes Common App doesn't automatically tell me you need one, and I'm only doing those that you request or that Common App tells me I need to do.

The second one applies to all Seniors, whatever your path after high school. I need you to fill out this Google form once you know what your path is after high school. If you are still trying to decide between colleges, wait until you do so before filling out the form. If you know you aren't going to college, or if you know your college for certain, you can fill the form out immediately. It allows me to have a list of where I need to send final transcripts for everyone, and if I need to send them at all. Most schools won't let you register for classes unless they have a final transcript on file, and some will even threaten to revoke your admission in August unless they get the transcripts immediately. Avoid all that, fill out the 2 question form, and have a great last two weeks of this semester. https://forms.gle/qPRaLwj1MKXUbZ7F7

Thanks,

Mr. Miner

Class of 2027 Update

Hey Class of 2027 students and parents,

Hope everyone enjoyed your break, I know I did. I really appreciate that so many of you did what you were supposed to and filled out/turned in your scheduling sheets for Senior year classes! I have also really enjoyed talking with each student individually about classes, credits, and your future hopes and dreams. These meetings will continue until I've met with all 438 members of the Class of 2027 by the end of February. Mr. Evans and I will host a meeting for Senior parents either in the late spring or in August to go over everything you need to know as your student heads into their Senior year. I personally can't believe we are even talking about graduation already, as it seems such a short time ago that these students walked into BHS for the first time as wide-eyed freshmen. I'll keep it short this month and end right here-as always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.

Thanks,

Mrs. Caverly

Class of 2028 Update

Dear 10th Graders,

As exams are approaching, now is the time to focus, stay organised, and put in your best effort. The work you do in preparing for these exams will not only impact your results now, but will also set you up for a strong and successful start to Semester 2.

Consistent study, and asking for help when you need it can make a real difference. Even small daily efforts add up, and the skills you build through exam preparation—time management, resilience, and discipline—will benefit you well beyond this term.

Make a study plan, use your class notes and resources, and take responsibility for your learning. Believe in your ability to improve and do your best.

Wishing you all the best as you prepare. Stay focused and study hard—you’ve got this.

Kind regards,

Mrs. Petit

Class of 2029 Update

Welcome back 9th graders!

I hope you all had a great break and had some time to recharge and relax doing the things that you love and spending time with family and friends!

I have started scheduling meetings for next year. I will be working to meet with all of you and I should be done by mid February. As we prepare for semester 2, it is so important to communicate with your current teachers about any make-up tests or assignments that you can complete before semester 1 ends! These are the first official grades that will be on your transcript and the start of your high school GPA. Finish the semester strong!

Supporting Student Mental Health During Exam Week

With the end of the semester and exams approaching next week, many of our students are experiencing increased stress. A healthy level of stress is normal, but too much can impact learning, sleep, and emotional well being. Parents and guardians can play an important role in helping their students manage this pressure.

  • Normalize stress: Let your students know it’s common to feel nervous before exams. Validate their feelings rather than dismissing them, and invite a open conversation.

  • Encourage balance: Short, focused study sessions paired with breaks are more effective than long hours of cramming. Sleep, regular meals, movement, and hydration are essential for focus and mood.

  • Watch for warning signs: Headaches, stomachaches, irritability, withdrawal, or changes in sleep or appetite may signal overwhelming stress. Check in and seek school support if concerns arise.

  • Keep perspective: Exams matter, but they do not define a student’s worth or future. Remind your students that their effort and well being are more important than perfection.

School counselors and social workers are available to support students during exam week. We love partnering to promote both academic success and mental health.
