Superintendent's Weekly Update March 18th, 2022

June 24, 2022

Dear Weymouth Public Schools’ Community,

As we wind down our last days, wrap up our closing celebrations, and say our final goodbyes I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to our entire school community for your partnership and support during my first year as Superintendent of Weymouth Public Schools.

This school year we sent out a newsletter every week filled with stories from across the district. Most weeks the highlights we shared were only a small sampling of the extraordinary work happening in our classrooms, athletic fields, and in our extracurricular programs everyday.

These points of pride would not have been possible without the tremendous support of our community, the hard work and dedication of our staff, and the determination of our students. As you end the school year I hope you all feel the same sense of pride we felt reporting on your growth and gains all year.

To our administrators, educators, coaches, support staff, traffic supervisors, transportation personnel, maintenance staff, custodians, food service, nurses, technology, data, central administration, and every staff member in the district; thank you for your tireless work, dedication, and commitment to educational excellence in Weymouth Public Schools.

To our families and community; thank you for being tremendous partners, and advocates for our students, schools, and programs.

To all of our students, whether you received end of the year accolades or struggled to stay above water, we saw your determination and we applaud you. When I visited our schools throughout the district this year one thing was constant, everyone- our staff, our students, your students, were trying their very best to present the best version of themselves.

With that said, there are a few last end of the year highlights we would be remiss if we did not take a moment to celebrate:

  • The Weymouth Varsity Boys Rugby team won the Division 2 State Championship against Hanover last weekend! Congratulations, Boys Rugby! You can read about their incredible story and season here.

  • Johnson Early Childhood Center celebrated its final day of school this week! To all our youngest learners who will move on to Kindergarten next year, we can’t wait to see you in September!

  • Seach Elementary unveiled the Seach community mural, a beautiful display of education and community that will compliment Seach Elementary for years to come.

  • Promotion Ceremonies continued across the district. Congratulations to all our Grade 5 and Grade 8 students and their families.

In closing, to all our WPS retirees who will not be returning in September, we wish you the best of luck, life and health in this next chapter.

We’ll see you next week for our final days, Wildcats!

Best Regard,

Robert Wargo
