WSD BOARD MEETING REPORT

The WSD Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, July 17, that was live-streamed via the WSD Board of Education YouTube channel and can be viewed by visiting YouTube. The agenda and available supporting documents can be viewed online under Diligent Community. Below are some highlights.

Brian Bishop, interim superintendent, began the business portion of the meeting by providing comments and sharing District highlights. View the slideshow.

The Board approved the five-year strategic plan, as presented.

The Board had a first reading on the following policies:

• Policy 1300: Equal Opportunity - First Read
• Policy 1301: Equal Opportunity - First Read
• Policy 6180: English as a Second Language ESL-ESOL - First Read
• Policy 5550: Food Service Programs- Meal Charges - First Read

Hester Menier, art teacher at Stone Creek Elementary, was selected as a Missouri Regional 2024 Teacher of the Year for the St. Louis region according to EducationPlus and the St. Louis Regional Professional Development Center.

The Board approved the hire of Dr. Tracey McAllister as an assistant principal for North Point Middle, effective today, Monday, July 22. Dr. McAllister previously served as a teacher at Heritage Elementary. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal at Fairmount Elementary School in the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) for nine years. Learn more.

The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is set for Aug. 15, 2024. There will be a special Board meeting on Aug. 7, 2024, for purposes of personnel and other beginning of year operations.
