Mr. Powers Notes
As we wrap up the first month of the school year, I want to take a minute to applaud our students on adjusting to the new expectations and new cell phone policy at our career center. It is a fresh breath of air to hear conversations on break, students engaged in class and in the lab, and smiling faces with our students. The work continues to grow for our students, the expectations will remain the same, and we can't wait to see the successes of our students throughout the school year. With enrollment at its highest level ever at our career center, we know the excitement for the trades is there, and the potential for continued growth is imminent. BRCP is on the move, and this will be our best year yet.
We are looking forward to a great school year! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, you may reach me at 317-392-4191 ex. 1101 or jpowers@brcp.k12.in.us

Start of School Reminders
As many of you might be aware, the State of Indiana passed a new law, effective July 1, 2026, specifically, Senate Enrolled Act 78 that states that any personal device capable of connecting to cellular network or the Internet will not be allowed to be used during the school day. This includes cell phones, personal tablet computers, personal laptops, gaming devices, and smartwatches. The “school day” consists of when the time the bell rings for the class to begin until they leave at the end of the day.
Blue River Career Programs intends to follow the law set forth by the State of Indiana and have established four opportunities students will have while they attend BRCP this school year.
· Option 1: Students may choose to leave their personal device in their vehicle (if they drive) OR choose not to bring it to school.
· Option 2: If students choose to bring their personal device into the building, they must power the device completely off and place it in a school provided cell phone locker that is in their instructors classroom.
· Option 3: If students choose to bring their personal device into the building, they can leave it in their backpack and power it off.
· Option 4: If students choose to bring their personal device into the building and don’t feel comfortable placing it in the school provided cell phone locker or their bag, they may bring it up to the office, where a storage area will be kept for personal devices
2. Everything that we do here at BRCP is to set our students up for what's next, whether they are going to college or starting a career. One area that we are still trying to help our students with is attendance. If your student is out for any reason, please give us a call to the BRCP attendance line. Also, if your student goes to the doctor, please have them grab two doctor's notes, one for their home school and one for BRCP. That will help us as we move forward.
We look forward to a great year!
