Southeastern Elementary

Dear Southeastern Families,

We conducted our first lockdown drill of the school year today in partnership with the Hastings City Police Department and our school security team. Our students did an amazing job following directions and practicing the procedures we have in place to help keep everyone safe. While we hope we never need to use these procedures in a real emergency, practicing them helps ensure our students and staff know what to do if the need arises.

Our PTO is hosting a Butter Braid fundraiser, just in time for the upcoming holidays! These delicious treats are a crowd favorite and make a great addition to your holiday celebrations. Fundraiser forms went home with students today and are due back November 6th.

We are so grateful for our PTO and all they do to support Southeastern Elementary. Their hard work and generosity help us celebrate and recognize both our students and staff throughout the year. Thank you for supporting our amazing PTO and our Southeastern community!

Parking Lot Safety Reminder

As a reminder, safety is our number one priority at Southeastern! We ask all families to be mindful of students and pedestrians when entering and exiting our parking lot.

Please remember that our parking lot is also considered a Hastings city street and is patrolled by the Hastings City Police Department. It is important that everyone follows traffic rules and our school’s parking lot procedures.

A few important reminders:

• Please follow the carline procedures if you are dropping off or picking up your child.

• Do not park in the carline. If you prefer to get out of your vehicle and walk your child, please park in a designated parking space or along Dibble Street.

• Our parking lot is one-way. Please follow the designated traffic flow at all times.

• Watch carefully for students and pedestrians. Please drive slowly and remain alert, especially during busy arrival and dismissal times.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work together to keep all of our Southeastern students safe. Thank you for helping us make arrival and dismissal safe for everyone!

I’ve attached the flyer for our Turkey Trot, a 5K race held on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 26. We also have a School Challenge: the school with the highest participation will receive a trophy to keep until the following year. The flyer includes a discount for the first five people from your school to sign up. Please help us spread the word by sharing the flyer or social media post with your students and families. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much!
