The Champion Chatt
August 2025
A Message from the Principal
Champion Families,
We are off to a great start this school year! Our students and staff are embracing our theme for the year…WE ARE Champions modeling the many ways we show respect, responsibility and problem-solving to help each other! We will continue to establish our new routines and classroom communities in the coming weeks.
The car-rider line has shown great improvement in time and efficiency! Thank you to everyone for having students ready to exit the car with their bookbags and lunch boxes in hand. Bus transportation is also running much more smoothly and we truly appreciate our bus drivers and all they do each day to keep our kiddos safe to and from school.
Beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, we will welcome lunch visitors. All lunch visitors will check-in at the front and must have a valid picture ID in order to enter the building. After checking in at the front desk, lunch visitors will wait in the hallway outside the cafeteria for their students and will find a seat at the designated visitor tables located in front of the cafeteria and near the media center. As a reminder, families may eat lunch with their children only. Lunch visitors will exit through the front lobby at the end of the lunch period, and students will return to class.
Classroom volunteers, Watch D.O.G.S., and room parents will be provided a training session on Thursday, September 4th from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. and a second evening session on Thursday, September 11th from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. Our PTO secretary, Jennifer Johnson, and Family Engagement Coordinator, Kim Sarfaty, will be hosting these training sessions for all volunteers interested in supporting Chattahoochee ES in 25-26.
Each teacher will determine when, how often, and how many parent volunteers will be needed to support activities for their students. If you are seeking opportunities to volunteer, please visit our school website for more information. Once volunteers have attended the training session, watched and signed-off on the required videos, and completed the volunteer confidentiality agreement, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher directly for specific class times and needs. The confidentiality agreement must be turned into Ashley Darst, in the front office, or Kim Sarfaty prior to the first volunteer visit.
For the safety and privacy of everyone in our building, we kindly ask that all visitors remain in the designated area listed on their ID sticker. Thank you for helping us maintain a secure environment by not visiting other classrooms or areas without prior approval.
We are grateful for your continued partnership!
With appreciation,
Jill Short
Curriculum Night 2025
Families of students in 1st through 5th grades, mark your calendars and join us on Thursday, August 28 from 6:00–7:30 PM for our Curriculum Night.
First, you’ll hear from your child’s teacher about classroom expectations and learning goals for the year. Then, you’ll have time to visit other grade-level classrooms and connect with additional teachers—perfect for families with multiple children!
We can’t wait to see you there! 💙
Absence Reminders
If your student is marked absent and you use our school QR code attendance form to indicate a medical excuse, please remember that the actual medical documentation must be submitted to the front office.
You may send the medical excuse in one of the following ways:
- Email it directly to the front office (chattattendance@forsyth.k12.ga.us), or
- Send it through your student’s teacher
This helps us ensure that all absences are properly documented and excused. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping us maintain accurate attendance records.
Chattahoochee's Website
Have you seen that our Chattahoochee website has a new look? Be sure to update your bookmark to the new address: chattahoochee.forsyth.k12.ga.us. Thanks so much for your patience while we make this transition—we're excited to share the new site with you!
PBIS Rewards for Families
Families! We encourage you to download the PBIS Rewards for Families app. You'll be able to get notifications about your child for positive points earned and minor behavior concerns. Your child's teacher has sent home a QR code unique to your child for you to get connected! Please reach out if you need another copy.

Family Engagement
Watch D.O.G.S.
We are excited to welcome our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) to Chattahoochee beginning September 12th!
Watch D.O.G.S. are wonderful male role models such as dads, uncles, brothers, grandpas, etc. who come spend time with us during our day! Watch D.O.G.S. serve in many different ways including reading to students, engaging in a variety of activities during our Pathways classes, enjoying lunch with their child, playing with students during recess, serving as lunch monitors in our cafeteria, opening car doors for students in our car line, and supporting small group learning fun in our classrooms.
We will be having Watch D.O.G.S. at Chattahoochee on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays starting September 12th. Please use this link: https://volunteer.forsythpartnerconnect.org/need/detail/?need_id=1126763 for more information about being a Watch D.O.G.S. and to sign up.
If you have any questions, please contact Kim Sarfaty at ksarfaty@forsyth.k12.ga.us or at 770-781-2240 ext.152103, and she will help. We are so excited to have you with us!
If your child(ren) completed their Brain Quest workbook, it’s not too late to return it to their teachers for a prize! They can return the map that's inside to their teacher anytime until the end of August! It’s been awesome seeing all the maps that we’ve received and all of the great work our students have completed!
