Western Intermediate School News
January 2026
Dear Western Intermediate Families,
Welcome Back and Happy New Year!
We hope your family enjoyed a restful and joyful winter break. As we welcome students back to school, January brings a fresh start, renewed routines, and exciting opportunities for learning and growth. The new year is a wonderful time for students to refocus, set goals, and build positive habits as we begin the second semester together.
We are also excited to share that our new school website has officially launched. The updated site is designed to be more user friendly and easier to navigate, with quick access to important information, calendars, announcements, and resources for families. Click the picture below in this newsletter to visit our new website and check it out.
As we move into the second semester, our focus remains on continuing learning and pushing every student forward academically. Teachers will build on the progress made during the first half of the year, challenge students to think critically, and provide targeted support to help each child grow. Whether students are strengthening foundational skills or extending their learning, our goal is for every child to make meaningful progress and feel confident in their abilities. Your support at home plays an important role, and together we will continue working to help all students reach their full potential!
With winter weather fully upon us, please be sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the cold. Students may be outside for arrival, dismissal, and recess when weather permits, so warm coats, hats, and gloves are strongly encouraged.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a great start to 2026 and a successful second half of the school year!
Joyfully,
Mrs. Jamie Eckstein

Holiday Concert Magic!
We are so proud of Ms. Schmitt and our 4th & 5th grade students for all their work on a wonderful holiday concert!
Glitter & Gears Nail Salon
The Glitter & Gears AMTAG group put on their own nail salon at WIS for staff members. All proceeds raised went to FSA of Kokomo! But they didn't stop there...they took their nail salon to Bloom Senior Living center and painted the residents' nails!
