Stinger Stories

Dear West Side Families,

As we welcome September, our classrooms are in full bloom. New friendships forming, academic challenges and critical thinking buzzing in every classroom, and students building confidence and resilience in trying new things. Tomorrow, we look forward to welcoming all our Grand Pals to the school for a special time with their Stingers. It is always a Stinger favorite event! Next Thursday, join us for our annual Pizza on the Playground event. Playground time, pizza, popsicles, and family fun - a perfect night at West Side!

Next week, Quarter 1 Progress Reports will be sent home via email. If you have questions regarding your child's academic progress, please reach out to his/her teacher. Progress reports are only sent to students not meeting grade level standards. All 3rd-5th grade families can monitor student grades on Aspen.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if we can better support or serve your student and family. On behalf of the West Side staff, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve your family this year.

There's no place like West Side!

Warm regards,

Christina

Greetings West Side Families! The Counseling Department is gearing up for Fall small group counseling sessions for students. Small groups provide students with opportunities to connect with peers, build essential skills, and receive extra support in a safe and welcoming space. Topics may include friendship, managing worries/big feelings, self-control, study skills and more depending on student needs.

If you believe your child would benefit from participating in a small group, please complete the referral form below.

We look forward to supporting our students together!

The 2025-2026 Direct Donation campaign is in full swing! Help us reach our goal by making a tax deductible donation on Givebacks! We give 100% of your donation back to the students and staff at West Side. Our Legacy Project this year will support TWO areas: the addition of a permanent shade structure to the outdoor picnic area near the cafeteria and SPARK for Specials, which will bring innovative and STEAM-based learning opportunities to each Specials area.

Congratulations to 5B, Mrs. Chastain's class, for reaching 100% direct donation participation! They will ride in style to Lewis Park for pizza and play time! Way to go, Chastain's Champions!!

5B may be the winner of the limo ride BUT the fun doesn't stop there! ALL CLASSES that reach 100% direct donation participation by September 12 will get a SILENT DISCO PARTY before Fall break! K2, Mrs. Worley's class, is the first class to win the Silent Disco party! Will your class win too?
