Assistant Principal
Happy November!
Can you believe that we are already starting our first full week of November? Fall Conference Week is one of my most favorite weeks on campus because it gives families an opportunity to hear how your child is progressing, and see the environment in which they are learning. I truly enjoy watching parents leave with pride and a better understanding of how they can help their students be successful. Your partnership with the school makes such a difference in your child's education and we are thankful that you are part of our team. Thank you for participating in Fall Conferences!
This month's newsletter is full of important dates and announcements for the coming weeks. Please look for information about musical performances, Highly Capable information, and safety reminders.
As always, if you have questions or concerns, or of you'd like to talk about how much your student makes you smile, please contact me at bourgeois.gane@ysd7.org, or call the office to make an appointment.
With gratitude,
Ms. Bourgeois,
Principal

Highly Capable Program
The Yakima School District is accepting referrals for Highly Capable Program services at all grade levels. Parents, guardians, teachers, students, and community members can refer students. Referrals will be accepted October 1, 2025 - November 7, 2025. All referrals must be submitted by 3:00 pm on November 7th, 2025. There will be no exceptions for late submissions. Paper copies of the referral forms are available at all schools or online at the links below.
PICK UP AND DROP OFF REMINDERS
Drop Off Procedures
Please remember students should not be dropped off or arrive at school prior to 8:15. There is no supervision prior to this time. Students should also only be dropped off on the North side of the building. The only students who should be entering the premises from the south side of Viola should be students who are arriving on the bus. Parents cannot pull into the bus parking lot.
This includes kindergarten students who line up on the south side. These students should only enter the premises on the north side of the playground through the main gate or through the main office.
Pick Up Procedures
Car line: stay in your vehicle at all times.
Pull up to the end of the sidewalk.
Have your taxi sign hanging from mirror (this helps us get students ready ahead of time so when you get to the front they are waiting for you)
Do not pull in the middle of the lanes. You will be asked to stop and wait. There are only 2 lanes, the inside and the outside.
Pick up: All students are brought to the gated area.
Stay behind the white line (if you crowd the fence students can not see their parents)
The parking lot is closed for parking during pick up times.
Do not park on the side of the road on 22nd. If there are no spots open then you must get in the car pick up line or park somewhere else. This is a no parking zone and signs are posted. Do not call students to cross the road or get in your vehicle while you are on the road. Use crosswalks at all times. We need to be teaching our students how to cross dangerous areas. If adults are breaking the rules, kids are going to wonder why they can't.
Patrol: Please be patient and cautious with the crossing guards, they are kids doing an important job.
Cones:
The cones are set up to keep the parking lot safe. Please do not move the cones.
If you are needing an earlier drop off or later pick up, please ask for information about our before and after school program called Right at School.
