🐾 A Message from the Principal 🐾
3/22/26
Dear Wildcat Families,
Welcome back! I hope each of you had a wonderful, restful Spring Break filled with time to recharge and connect with those you love. We are so excited to have our Wildcats back on campus and ready to finish this school year strong!
Before the break, our students did an outstanding job during our testing week. I am incredibly proud to share that students performed very well on their Science and Social Studies assessments and showed meaningful growth in Math. This progress is a direct reflection of their hard work and the dedication of our amazing teachers.
Our students also completed their TELPAS assessments prior to Spring Break, and I cannot say enough about how impressed we were with their effort and perseverance. It was clear that our students gave their very best, and that is something truly worth celebrating!
As we look ahead, our first STAAR exam—RLA—will take place on April 15th, which means we have 16 instructional days to prepare. Our teachers and leadership teams have worked hard to design targeted, engaging lessons to ensure every student continues to grow and perform at their highest level.
We ask for your partnership in this final stretch—daily attendance is critical. Each day of learning matters as we prepare for these important assessments.
Here’s what’s ahead:
- RLA (all grades) & 8th Grade Science STAAR prep begins tomorrow
- Math (all grades) and 8th Grade Social Studies prep begins April 1st
Together, we are focused on ensuring every student is ready, confident, and set up for success.
In addition to our academic focus, we are also working to support and advocate for our Wildcat community following the recently proposed plan regarding the potential closure of Westview Middle School in the 2028–2029 school year. While we appreciate the consideration from district leadership, it is important that they hear a strong, unified voice from our Wildcat community.
We are currently partnering with our PTO to plan a dedicated meeting focused on organizing our advocacy efforts to keep Westview open and thriving for the Pflugerville ISD Austin community. I look forward to standing alongside you in this important work and greatly appreciate your continued support.
Thank you for all that you do to support our students and our school. Let’s keep rising together, Wildcats!
With appreciation,
Dr. Emily Delgado

📊 Nine Weeks Assessment & Campus Progress Update 📊
As we reflect on our most recent nine weeks assessments, we are proud to share both the progress our students have made and the clear path we have moving forward.
Based on our latest data, Westview Middle School is currently projected to earn an overall accountability score of 77 (C). Within our accountability domains:
- Student Achievement: 70 (C)
- School Progress: 80 (B)
- Closing the Gaps: 70 (C)
We are especially encouraged by our School Progress score of a B, which reflects the strong growth in relative performance when our performance is compared to campuses in our same demographic group. This score is attributed to our work to ensure that our campus Economically Disadvantaged population is an accurate reflection of our campus demographic based on our forms we asked parents to fill out at the beginning of the year. This work changed our campus comparison group dramatically and impacts our accountability in every domain.
When we look specifically at our performance levels from the nine weeks assessments:
- Approaches Grade Level: 60% (Goal: 65%)
- Meets Grade Level: 37% (Goal: 41%)
- Masters Grade Level: 17% (Goal: 21%)
While we are just 3–5 percentage points away from our goals, this data gives us a very focused opportunity for improvement in the final weeks leading up to STAAR.
It is important to note that, although our assessments were built using released STAAR questions and were closely aligned to STAAR expectations, this projection is still a rough estimate. There are several factors that cannot be fully accounted for at this time, including:
- Variations in question types on the 2026 STAAR exams
- Final calculations for Closing the Gaps
- Student growth measures, which are determined after official testing
That said, when we compare our current performance to our 2025 STAAR results, we have strong reason for optimism. Our students have already shown:
- Overall improvement in Math across grade levels
- Double-digit gains in 8th Grade Science and Social Studies
Based on this trend, we are confident that we will also see positive movement in Closing the Gaps and growth measures, though final outcomes will not be known until after STAAR results are released on June 17th.
Between now and our testing dates, we remain fully committed to reaching—and exceeding—our goals.
Our teachers and leadership teams are actively using this data to:
- Target instruction to the most critical TEKS
- Provide strategic intervention for students approaching Meets and Masters
- Strengthen rigor and alignment to STAAR expectations
We are confident that with intentional instruction, strong student effort, and continued partnership with families, we can close these gaps and move firmly into a B rating.
As we enter this final stretch, your support is essential. Ensuring that students attend school daily, stay engaged, and give their very best effort will make a powerful difference.
Together, we are building momentum—and our Wildcats are rising to the challenge!

📢 District Optimization: Shaping the Future of PfISD
As our community continues to grow and change, Pflugerville ISD is hard at work ensuring our facilities and resources are aligned to best serve our students. We are currently in the District Optimization phase and need your voice to help guide the Board of Trustees in their decision-making process.
The district has developed 12 distinct draft scenarios that explore different approaches to school boundaries, facility usage, and resource allocation.
View the Scenarios: You can review the detailed PDFs for all 12 scenarios (available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese) on the PfISD Draft Scenarios page.
No Immediate Changes: Please note that any scenarios approved by the Board will not take effect until the 2027-2028 school year.

Fine Arts Update
Wishing Our Band & Choir the Best at UIL!
We are incredibly proud of our Westview Band and Choir students as they prepare for their upcoming UIL Sightreading competitions. I recently had the pleasure of watching our band rehearse, and they never cease to amaze me with their talent, dedication, and focus. The level of commitment our students demonstrate during practice truly reflects the pride they take in their craft.
Last week, our band also participated in a performance as part of their preparation for the upcoming competition. Their hard work and musical growth were evident, and it was wonderful to see their progress as they continue preparing for UIL on April 1–2.
Our Westview Choir has also been working diligently as they prepare for their UIL Sightreading competition on March 26–27. Their dedication and passion for music are inspiring, and we are excited to see them showcase their talents.
We wish both our Band and Choir the very best as they represent Westview. No matter the outcome, we are already incredibly proud of their hard work, talent, and the way they represent our Wildcat community.
📱 Cell Phone Reminder
At Westview Middle School, our goal is to maintain a focused, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. As a reminder, cell phones are not allowed to be seen or used during the school day. This includes hallways, classrooms, and common areas.
To support consistency across the district, we will be following the PfISD Cell Phone Consequence Ladder for any violations:
OffenseConsequence 1st OffenseDevice confiscated — must be picked up by a parent or guardian. 2nd OffenseDevice confiscated and lunch detention assigned (documented in Skyward). 3rd OffenseDevice confiscated, ½ day of ISS, and a parent meeting required. Chronic IssuesMay result in a full day of ISS, a behavior plan, or a temporary ban on bringing the device to school.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home. When students are free from distractions, they can better focus, engage, and succeed in their learning.
💜 Go Wildcats — focused and ready to learn!
Safety Protocols
New Transportation Badge System
Beginning this month, the PfISD Transportation Department will introduce a new Transportation Badge System for students who ride the school bus. This system is designed to make transportation even safer and more efficient for our Wildcats.
Students who ride the bus will receive a new ID badge from the transportation department. They will simply scan their badge when getting on and off the bus, allowing district staff to ensure students are always on the correct bus and helping families stay informed. This system helps prevent mix-ups and gives everyone greater peace of mind—nothing more, and nothing to worry about.
These new badges are multi-purpose, too! Students will be able to:
-
Access breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria
-
Check out books in the library
-
Wear the badge daily as part of our regular school ID expectations
If your child does not ride the bus, they will continue using their current school badge, and no changes are needed.
We appreciate your partnership as we roll out this helpful system that supports student safety and smooth daily routines for all.
Lunch Visits with Your Wildcat
We love seeing our Wildcat families join their students for lunch! Families are always welcome to bring outside food and enjoy lunch with their child at our picnic tables. These moments mean so much to our students, and we truly enjoy having our families here on campus.
If you would like to have lunch with your child, simply stop by the front office when you arrive. Our staff will call your student out of the cafeteria, and you can briefly sign them out and back in once lunch is finished. It’s a simple process, and a wonderful way to stay connected with your child during the school day.
We hope to see you at lunch soon!
Attendance Matters
Help your child perform at their highest level this year! 🏫✨
- Our Year to Date Attendance is 93.1.
- 6th Grade = 94.3%
- 7th Grade = 92.4.%
- 8th Grade = 92.6%
- Try to schedule doctor and dentist appointments after school or in the afternoon so your child can be counted present.
- Every school day matters—just a few missed days can add up quickly.
Thank you for partnering with us to make every day count for your child’s success! 💙
Tardy Consequences
⏰ Tardy Update: Way to Go, Wildcats!
We’re proud to share that our students have been doing a much better job getting to class on time! Thank you to all of our families for supporting this effort — your partnership makes a big difference. When students arrive to class promptly, they are more engaged, prepared, and ready to learn from bell to bell.
While we’re celebrating this progress, please remember that we are still issuing consequences for excessive tardies according to our campus Tardy Consequence Ladder:
3Level 1 Warning 6Level 2 Warning 91 Day After-School Detention 122 Days After-School Detention + Parent Conference 15 or more1 Day of In-School Suspension (ISS)

Thank you for continuing to encourage your student to be on time every day. Every minute in class counts toward their success!
