Parent Meeting 5th Grade Transition
Springton Lake Middle School
Event Information
5th Grade Parent Information Night - April 7, 2026 7:00PM
We are excited to welcome your family to Springton Lake Middle School as your child prepares to enter 6th grade for the 2026–2027 school year. Starting middle school is an important step, and we are committed to making this transition organized, supportive, and positive for every student and family.
Over the coming months, we will provide opportunities for you and your child to learn about our
programs, meet staff, and become familiar with the building.
We will kick off the transition with Parent Information Night on Tuesday, April 7 from 7:00-8:30 PM.
During this evening, families will:
• Learn about academic programs and student schedules
• Meet members of the SLMS team, including administrators, teachers, and school counselors
• Review student services and activities
• Tour the building
Please note this event is for parents and guardians only. A number of student-focused transition activities are scheduled throughout the spring and summer.
Student schedules are developed using academic data and teacher input to ensure appropriate placement and support. Students who receive special education services, gifted support, or other interventions in elementary school will continue to receive appropriate services in middle school.
Families will also make music selections for next year. Students may:
• Continue band or orchestra
• Join chorus
• Enroll in a general music course if not selecting a performance ensemble
Additional information regarding course selection will be shared in the coming weeks.
Student Transition Visits will begin this spring. Springton Lake staff will visit each elementary school to meet with students and introduce middle school expectations and opportunities.
We look forward to partnering with you and your child’s elementary team during this transition. We hope to see you on April 7.
5th Grade Student Visitations - May 26, 2026
