Senior Skip Days - Not School Sanctioned
I think we can all agree that senior year is exciting. It's filled with memorable events that mark the culmination of the student high school experience. 'Senior Skip Day', while a tradition among students, is not something we support. Students who miss school without following the proper protocol, will be considered skipping and face the prescribed consequences. Teachers are not obligated to allow students to earn credit for worked missed on that unexcused day. Please join us in encouraging your child to attend school every day, as learning time is valuable. Additionally, students are not able to participate in after school activities on any day they are not excused from school.
Conferences
Each year, we welcome parents and guardians to meet with teachers. Conferences this year are November 24th (evening) and November 25th (morning). Sign-up information will come out in early November. In the meantime, we'll be requesting information for families who need interpretation services.
Estimados padres:
Gracias.

Ben Lear
Ben Lear (Class of 2030) will represent the WCE Golf Team at the 2026 PIAA Individual Golf Championships at the Penn State Golf Course on October 19-21, 2026. Ben qualified for states by shooting just 8 over par over 36 holes in last week’s District 1 2026 Individual Golf Championships. The 36-hole Districts included over 100 of the areas best high school golfers on day 1 at Raven Claw CC. Ben and 35 other D1 golfers moved to day 2 at Turtle Creek Golf CC, and it was Ben's great play down the stretch parring his last hole to make the cut. He and 16 other D1 golfers advanced to states. To reach Districts, Ben and seven of his East teammates had to battle very tough conditions at Wyncote CC where Ben shot a 6 over par round. While 2026 saw its challenges to culminate many wins for the team, Ben and his East teammates never got down. They continued to support each other, win or lose. Congrats East, and best of luck to Ben next week!
Activities
HOCO
From start to finish, Homecoming Week at East was exciting. A huge thank you to all involved in the planning, organization, and execution. Our Student Council was phenomenal. Their creativity and attention to detail made everything run smoothly. The pep rally had something for everyone, the football game drew a huge crowd, and the dance went off without a hitch!
Student Summit
Members of our Unified Bocce team (Uriel, Johnna, Emma, and William) attended a Youth Summit intended to bring together students to learn about leadership and making a difference in their school communities. They focused on planning school wide events promoting inclusion. Thank you to our faculty supporters, Lauren Otto and Courtney Zimmerman, who accompanied our students to this summit.

Student Opportunities
Career Exploration Comes to Life
Eight WCASD high school students recently began an exciting career exploration opportunity through Penn Pathways, a partnership between Career Compass and Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital. Among the participants are West Chester East High School seniors Maria Quito and Yahaira Palmas-Talonia, who are looking forward to exploring healthcare careers and gaining firsthand experience in a professional hospital setting. Students attended an orientation this week, where they were welcomed by Dr. Karen Pinsky, President of Chester County Hospital, along with members of the hospital’s leadership and Human Resources teams. Students were introduced to Penn Medicine’s values and received official Penn Medicine shirts and identification badges.
Students will participate in 14 weeks of career rotations, gaining exposure to both clinical and non-clinical healthcare careers. Through these experiences, students will explore different departments, connect with healthcare professionals, and learn more about the many career opportunities available within a healthcare system. We are grateful to Chester County Hospital for investing in our students and helping them see what a future in healthcare could look like.
Staff
Mr. Rupert - AP Physics
In Mr. Rupert's AP Physics class, students were working collaboratively on multiple-choice questions from AP Classroom as part of a targeted review for their upcoming assessment on forces and to build familiarity with the rigor and format of the AP exam. The lesson was intentionally designed so that students carried the cognitive load of the learning. Throughout the activity, students worked diligently and remained highly engaged as they analyzed questions and worked together to arrive at the best possible answers. Discussions reflected a collaborative problem-solving approach, with students using evidence from prior learning to support their conclusions.
Facilities
We continue to enhance areas throughout the building with new furniture for students to rest comfortably, collaborate, socialize, and study. Check out the latest addition to our cafeteria.
Academic Information
Accessing Student Assessment Results
LinkIt! is the portal for viewing your child’s Fall benchmark results. (District benchmark assessments are given at key points during the school year in English Language Arts, Science and Math. They measure your child’s current skill levels against grade-level standards and help teachers plan instruction.)
If you already have an account: Log in at https://wcasd.linkit.com/parent and click the Reports icon. You will see new benchmark results listed alongside the state assessment data you have already been viewing.
If you have not yet set up your account: Now is a great time to get started. You will need the registration code that was sent to your email from noreply@linkit.com. If you cannot find it or did not receive one, contact your child’s school office to confirm the email address on file and request a new code.
If you are having difficulty accessing your account, please contact assessment@wcasd.net

Time for Post-Prom Planning
Post Prom provides a fun environment at East HS for students to continue celebrating after Senior Prom. The school is decorated in a specific theme, with lots of activities available to keep the seniors and their guests entertained. Post Prom is planned and run by parent volunteers, and it requires a lot of them!
Parents of students in ALL GRADES are encouraged to get involved. There are areas for all types of volunteers (fundraising, decorating, prepping prizes, etc). Post Prom fundraises each year to supplement the amount donated by the West Chester East PTO.
If you’d like to be included in future communications regarding Post Prom planning, please complete this form: https://forms.gle/t8ReqV3uktwtimk77
