As we move into February, our school community is embracing meaningful learning, the season of love and kindness and showing off our PRIDE. This month, we honor Black History Month by learning about influential Black leaders, innovators, and changemakers whose courage and creativity continue to shape our world. Students are engaging in thoughtful conversations, reading inspiring stories, and making connections to how they, too, can make a positive difference.
We are also proud to support our multilingual learners during WIDA testing throughout the month. This assessment helps us understand how students are growing in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. Teachers and staff work hard to create a calm, supportive environment so students feel confident and comfortable. We celebrate the progress our students make each year and encourage them to do their best, knowing that effort and growth matter most.
Here at Silver Firs, our Jaguars are continuing to show their PRIDE—being Polite, Respectful, Independent managers, Doing their best, and Everyone working cooperatively in each and every corner of our school. After a strong PBIS reboot in January, thanks to our amazing counselor, our Jaguars are shining brighter than ever. Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to grow, learn, and be amazing together!
We also got an opportunity to celebrate our Core Value champion From December’s theme of Collaboration! We are so proud of all of our Jaguars that were nominated for this award and a special shout out goes to Devyn Meyer pictured below!
Lastly, February also brings our mid-winter break (February 16–20), a time for students and families to rest, relax, and recharge before the final stretch of the school year.
