The Buzz
AUTUMN TERM - 18TH SEPTEMBER 2025
Message from the Executive Headteacher
Last week I was away on an exciting school journey for 5 days in Bude with the year 6 pupils, who were challenging themselves and developing their independence by being away from their parents for the first time. The children had a wonderful experience despite some wet weather. This is the goal we are aiming for and developing independence and resilience starts early. It has been wonderful to see the youngest children coming into school and settling down in their classrooms quickly ready to start their learning. Experience has shown us that a quick kiss and go is the best way to support that transition into school for the children and then to leave quickly.
I know many of you are keen to volunteer within school, if this is the case and you are able to volunteer regularly in school then you must attend a volunteer meeting. The first meeting was held today at HJS and the second meeting will be held at HISN on Friday 26th September @ 9am.
We have updated our policy around seeking consent for local school visits, please ensure you have looked at that within this edition of the Buzz.
I hope that all new families have signed up to Classlist, we do not use Whatsapp for school or HPPA communication. HPPA has already provided a lot of communication around Classlist and how to set it up. The information around events will be sent out over Classlist so please keep an eye on it.
Finally, please ensure that your child has a named waterproof coat in school, the weather seems to be a little wet at the moment but children do go outside for learning and playtime.
Have a great weekend when it arrives

HJS Tours for Year 2 Parent/Carers
If your child is moving up to Year 3 in September 2026 and you would like to book a tour of the school please book via our website https://www.hpp.school/
Tours are running on the following dates:-
- Thursday 6th November 9am
- Thursday 11th December 9am
The tours will last approximately 1 hour and are for parent/carers of current Year 2 children only.
Voluntary Contribution
Providing an enriched curriculum has always been at the heart of the ethos at Hampton Primary Partnership and we are determined to ensure we can continue to provide the richest possible experience for your child. It is for this reason that we ask parents to consider making a voluntary contribution to the school of £10 per pupil per term. This has had a significant impact on the money available for the schools to purchase the ‘discretionary’ resources which support our enriched curriculum and we would like to thank you for these contributions made. Payments can be made via the school shop on Arbor.
Consent
Throughout the year HISN offers a wide variety of visits and workshops to enhance the teaching and learning of all the children.
As part of the admission process into the school, we asked you to give consent for your child to attend local visits on foot eg. to the postbox, Carlisle Park or Hampton Library. When these visits take place we will email the details to you, however, we will no longer request consent for each individual visit as you will have already given this when you completed your admission forms.
Once you receive notification that this visit is happening, you have the opportunity to ‘opt out’ of these visits, if you wish, by emailing the school office. If you did not give consent during the admission process we will contact you directly to gain consent.
For visits that require travel on a bus, train or coach we will require separate consent via Arbor and this will be requested when the visit details are shared with you.
Thank you for your continued support.

We will be collecting harvest donations for the Real Junk Food Project on Friday 26th September 2025. Please leave donations at the office on the morning of Friday 26th September; the deadline is 10am.

Year 1
The children have made a fantastic start to the new school year, settling beautifully into the new environment and quickly picking up the routines of year 1. We are very impressed by the wonderful start they have made so far.
We have had great fun getting to know each other through our ‘Marvellous Me’ topic, writing facts about ourselves, our likes and dislikes and using our questioning skills to find out information about our peers.
We have been using lots of practical resources to sort, count and represent numbers in maths lessons and we have been learning about internal and external body parts in science, using our amazing knowledge to label these.
We have also been focusing on our feelings and emotions, particularly during this transitional time, discussing why we might feel a certain way and how we can manage these appropriately. We have been using the Zones of Regulation to communicate our feelings and creating toolkits to support us and our peers in dealing with these.
In history, we have been studying toys, discussing how and why they might change as we get older. We looked at various toys and sorted them into groups according to age. In art, we have been exploring the theme of ‘portraits’, looking at famous pieces by artists such as Vincent Van Gough and Leonardo Di Vinci. We discussed the different features of each portrait and looked carefully at their detail before trying our hand at our very own self-portraits. We have also been discussing what technology is in computing, looking at various forms of technology and how it helps us in our everyday lives. We then used our knowledge to sort different objects into two categories, technology and not technology.
We are looking forward to a fun week full of exciting new learning and are eager to discover more about just how amazing we all are through our topic!
