MCP3 Parent Newsletter- #35

A Message from Ms. Peterson
Hello MCP3 Families,
We continue our ABC countdown to summer this week! Scholars enjoyed Icee-pops for "I", shared and laughed at jokes for "J", and will get to create kaleidoscopes for K, enjoy a lollipop for "L", and engage in Marshmallow Math for "M". Be sure to send in an empty toilet paper roll tomorrow!
Thank you to the families and scholars who came to our People Who Love Us Event last Friday! It was great getting to see our scholars create lasting memories with people who love them! Your participation helps your scholars know the importance of school and your support. Congratulations to Amaya and Kylan and their families for being the raffle winners! Ms. Perine will give you your gift baskets this week.
This time of year is always a busy time with end of year assessments, field trips, preparing for completion ceremonies, and other fun activities. As we begin to look ahead to the transition into K4, we want to partner with you to make this exciting next step a smooth and positive experience for your child. Scholars are aware of the changes taking place as they begin to transition from K3 to summer and then off to K4. Here are a few ways you can support your child through this transition:
Talk About the Change- Begin having simple, positive conversations about moving into K4. Share your excitement and help your child understand that while some things will be new, many things—like friends, routines, rules, and caring teachers—will feel familiar.
Reinforce Routines- Consistent routines help children feel secure. Practicing morning and evening routines over the summer can ease anxiety and build confidence as they adjust to a slightly more structured environment in K4.
Celebrate Growth- Remind your child of all the ways they’ve grown and learned in K3. Help them feel proud of how far they’ve come and let them know you believe in their ability to take on this new adventure.
Milwaukee College Prep K3 program is still accepting applications for the 2026-2027 school year. Help us spread the word to families and friends and enroll your child to start preschool in the fall.
Here are some important reminders and updates:
End of Year Field Trips are this Friday, 5/22.
- Rooms 121, 123, & 124 (Elephants, Tigers, Bulldogs) to Lava Island
- Rooms 122 & 125 (Gators & Golden Eagles) to Kidcadia
Scholars may wear jeans/comfy bottoms with their MCP Uniform shirt and tennis shoes.
Chaperones should be confirmed with your child’s teacher. Please plan to arrive by 8:45am. Chaperones are responsible for supporting their child/small group to meet the classroom teacher’s expectations, and ensuring their child/small group is safe and following directions.
Make sure you have completed the waiver sent by your child's teacher.
MCP3 Completion Ceremony ~Save the Date
MCP3 will celebrate our class of 2040 in a K3 completion ceremony on June 10th at 9:00am in the Lola Rowe North Campus Gym. Here are a few details regarding our completion ceremony so that it runs smoothly and everyone is safe:
- Scholars may come dressed up
- Please have scholars arrive no later than 8:30 and be in their classroom to prepare for the ceremony (they should be completely dressed and prepared for the ceremony)
- Scholars will NOT be wearing caps/gowns in order to limit unnecessary distractions
- Balloons are NOT allowed in the gym
- Scholars MUST walk back to their classrooms with their teacher after the ceremony to ensure an accurate headcount. Families may sign their child out from the classroom upon completion of the ceremony. Parents may NOT take their child from the ceremony or from the gym.
- Parents and family members are asked to remain in the designated "guest" area to NOT interrupt the ceremony
- Families are welcome to come back to MCP3 for refreshments and pictures if they would like.
The last day of school is a fun filled carnival day on June 11th and is a noon
dismissal for all scholars. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up at noon.
With Appreciation & Respect,
Ms. Peterson
