Spring Glen Spotlight
Highlights From the Week!
⚡Quick Highlights - Week of 10/5
Dear Spring Glen Families,
Happy Friday! Here are some highlights from the week:
- 🥳 Today, Friday, was a whole-school PJ Day! Students have been working hard to show PAWSitive behavior across their school day, leading to us very quickly meeting our first goal of 750 tickets! The next goal is 2,000 tickets and the reward will be GAME DAY (everyone gets to bring their favorite board or card game to school to play in class at a designated time).
- 📚 Based on feedback received, teachers have been working hard to share more information related to the learning that students are engaged in from week-to-week. This may include resources to support current math units, suggested activities which help reinforce phonics skills, and more. We hope this is helpful!
- 📢 Please note: our upcoming conference days (Wednesday and Thursday, 10/21 and 10/22) are both Early Dismissal days (12:55 dismissal). Originally there was an error in the district calendar. NEW THIS YEAR! The PTA is providing child supervision in the gym during all conference blocks. If childcare has been a barrier to you being able to sign up for a conference with your child's teacher(s) in the past, we hope this is a helpful addition.
- 🔎 October and November are very busy months in terms of community events. Please be on the lookout for information shared through the Spotlight each week!
Enjoy the long weekend. We will see you all on Tuesday!

📸Scenes From The Week
Lots of Fun Was Had on PJ Day! 😄
First grade students have been studying shadows in science. They worked with their fifth-grade buddies to answer the question "Can a statues shadow move?" They used flashlights and tried to make a paper gnome's shadow fit into different shapes. The students then worked with a classmate to answer the question "What does your shadow do when you're not looking?" They traced each other's shadows in the morning and then went back in the afternoon to see how they changed since the sun was in a different place in the sky. First grade can't wait to learn more about shadows!
Mrs. Ngov's kindergarteners took a "field trip" to Mother Nature's Classroom, where they practiced using their sense of sight, hearing, touch, and smell to experience the natural world!
