From Doan's Desk...
We are seeing an increase in flu cases in our school community. To help keep everyone healthy, we encourage families to review Colorado’s “How Sick Is Too Sick?” guidance when deciding whether your student should come to school.
When to Keep Your Student Home - Students should stay home when:
They have symptoms that may indicate a contagious illness
They don’t feel well enough to participate in usual activities
They have flu‑like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, runny nose, congestion, or body aches
CDPHE notes that students should remain home if they have:
A fever of 100.4°F or higher
Vomiting or diarrhea
Symptoms that are not improving
According to CDPHE, students may return to school when they are “fever‑free for 24 hours without the use of fever‑reducing medications and other symptoms are improving.” For flu specifically, students should stay home “until they are fever‑free for 24 hours… and other symptoms have been improving for 24 hours.”
We appreciate your partnership in helping reduce the spread of illness. Keeping your student home when they are sick protects not only your student, but also classmates, staff, and our broader school community.
Have a Great Weekend-Sko Yotes!
