MASTER CLASS IN HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE
REBOOT is looking into how the Gen-AI has impacted the Creative Economy, how it elicits new services and how these affect the skills supply. Through peer-to-peer learning REBOOT is remodeling the knowledge acquisition pattern in HED towards the promotion of creativity and ethical knowledge.
MASTER CLASS IN HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE
Why is heritage significance and why should I care about?
Heritage is a non-renewable resource. Once destroyed, it cannot be recovered. Recognizing its significance creates a moral obligation to act as custodians on behalf of future generations. Heritage significance is the foundation upon which decisions about what to protect, why, and for whom are made β ensuring that the richness of human experience is not lost to time.
How can games help communicate cultural significance?
πGames do not simplify cultural significance β the best of them honour its complexity.
πThey work by creating the conditions in which players want to understand, are emotionally invested in the subject, and are actively rewarded for thinking carefully and deeply.
πWhen story, audience, subject knowledge, and game mechanics are brought together with intention and craft, games become one of the most effective tools available for communicating why cultural heritage matters β and why it deserves to be preserved, studied, and celebrated.

Minotaur and Theseus
The myth reflects the complex political and cultural relationship between Minoan Crete and Mycenaean Athens, preserving within its narrative traces of ancient tribute systems, power dynamics, and territorial conflict. Minotaur embodies the boundary between the human and the divine, the civilised and the savage. Theseus, who slays the Minotaur with the aid of the Cretan princess Ariadne, becomes the founding myth of Athenian civic identity, combining themes of sacrifice, labyrinthine complexity, heroic quest, and divine punishment.
Acropolis of Athens
The Acropolis has been continuously occupied for over 5,000 years, with evidence of habitation dating to the Neolithic period. As the supreme monument of ancient Greek civilization and a foundational reference point for the cultural heritage of all humanity, the Acropolis of Athens is an irreplaceable treasure of the world. Its continued preservation, conservation, and accessibility to present and future generations constitutes one of the most important responsibilities of the international heritage community.

NEXT STEPS: THE REBOOT GAME DESIGN STRATEGY
The Architecture
πIt unites narrative theory, audience-centred design, flexible technical architecture, AI integration, and iterative methodology into a coherent and actionable system.
πIts success depends on the commitment of the REBOOT mentor and student dcommunity to treat game creation not as content delivery, but as an interdisciplinary craft β one in which every layer of thinking, writing, testing, and refining contributes to an experience that is both genuinely playable and genuinely meaningful.
