Superintendent Update
Bond and Levy Resolutions
The district has completed the submission of all required materials to Klickitat County related to the upcoming bond and levy measures. With that work complete, the district is now focused on preparation and planning for January outreach efforts. This work is centered on ensuring our community has clear, accurate, and accessible information about the measures that will appear on the 2026 ballot.
Voters will be asked to consider two measures: the renewal of the Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy and a bond to modernize district facilities and create a unified K–12 campus. The EP&O levy is a renewal of existing local funding and is not a new tax. Local levies make up approximately 16 percent of the district’s annual budget and support essential staff, instructional programs, student services, nutrition, and student safety and well-being. The proposed bond would address aging facilities and allow the district to access nearly $34 million in anticipated state construction assistance.
The proposed one-campus, two-school model (K–6 and 7–12) would enhance campus safety, provide modern learning environments, and improve long-term operational efficiency by reducing maintenance and utility costs. A preliminary analysis estimates more than $500,000 in potential operational efficiencies if the bond passes, with those savings reinvested directly into schools and student learning. Additional information and updates are available on the district’s Bond and Levy webpage.
Health and Wellness Center
White Salmon School District continues to offer school-based counseling services for students in grades K–12. WPSIS, HMS, and CHS provide 6–8 week, goal-oriented therapeutic support on campus, with opportunities for ongoing services or referrals to community partners when needed.

Attendance Matters
As we prepare for the upcoming December winter break, we want to share how grateful we are for each of you. Together we have worked to establish routines of showing up to school and create a school community for everyone.
We know the winter season is busy, and we appreciate your efforts to avoid taking extra days off around the winter break. Our teachers will be teaching and our students will be learning right up until vacation starts on December 22 and the first day back on January 5, 2026.
Every school day matters. When students are healthy and able to attend, it gives them the chance to keep learning, connect with friends, and grow both socially and academically.
Your support makes such a difference in helping children feel connected and prepared.
We look forward to seeing you again when school resumes on January 5th.
Thank you for partnering with us!
Inclement Weather Procedures
Student safety and our ability to safely operate school buses to and/or from school is our top consideration when making weather related closures or delays. There are two ways WSVSD sends messages to staff and families about delays, closures, snow routes and other weather-related decisions: emails and text messages.
WSVSD will communicate with families in their preferred language. If a family is not receiving information from their student’s school or, if family contact information has changed, please notify their student's school office.
If staff and/or families “opted out” of receiving information from WSVSD via text messages, you can choose to opt back in by texting the word “start” to 98900.
WSVSD also posts updates online:
Facebook: Connect with WSVSD at www.facebook.com/whitesalmonschools
WSVSD website: Go to www.wsvsd.org and look at the “live feed.”
Inclement weather protocols can be found on www.wsvsd.org/o/wsvsd/page/snow-closures
FlashAlert: Download the FlashAlert app for updates about closures and delays.
Snow Routes
WSVSD implements snow routes to enhance safety and maintain continuity of learning during winter weather. Snow routes will allow buses to stay on main roads that are more likely to be cleared and safe, minimizing the risks posed by ice or snow-covered back roads with the hope of improving safety for our buses and avoiding weather-related school closure.
Snow routes have been developed for families that live off of Snowden Road, and off the Cook-Underwood Highway. Families whose regular bus stops are affected will have designated alternative stops along these routes.
The pick-up and drop off times are posted to our webpage. Please follow this link to review.
Notification of when we will be using snow routes will be made in the same manner as our inclement weather notifications; which is outlined in this newsletter.
We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we prioritize the safety of students and staff while adapting to winter conditions.
