  • If your child goes to the doctor, the office will need a letter to dismiss your child's absence from school.
  • If your child is showing any flu-like symptoms please keep them home.

Daily Schedule Changes

If you have any changes to your child's pickup or bus schedule, please call the office by 2pm on full days and 11:15 am on half days even if you have emailed your child's teacher. With the change of the 2021 school hours, the teachers do not always have time to check emails during school the day. It’s STEM-tastic News!!

Why is STEM important? It’s simple! Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are all around us! They are embedded in our daily lives and especially in what children do best… PLAY! What are students doing in S.T.E.M. class this year? While learning developmentally appropriate material, students are engaged: exploring, creating, building, testing, sorting, organizing, moving, discussing, cheering and laughing.

You can foster your child's love of S.T.E.M by modeling curiosity. Do not be discouraged if you don't know how things work. Your kids will still love you if you don't have all the answers, in fact, it is actually beneficial for them to hear you say "I don't know," once in a while.

Now... go play and stay curious!

Welcome Nurse Cathy!

Nurse Cathy is hired by PPPS and is present in our district daily. Some of our parents have met with and worked with her for daily medication needs. Please review the statement below that explains our schools' new policy on medicine disbursement.

After reviewing medical protocols and board policy, we will no longer be able to administer medication without proper documentation provided by the doctor. All inhalers will only be accepted with a spacer. Stop in the office for the paperwork. Please be patient as we adjust to these new policies.

Nurse Fun Facts

Florence Nightengale, a nurse during the Crimean War (1853-1856) is responsible for nursing as a profession. But, did you know that she was responsible for a simple technique to stay healthy that we still do today? Florence Nightengale implemented handwashing and good hygiene while caring for wounded soldiers. Hand washing is still the number one way to prevent the spread of germs.

How do we wash our hands? First, we Wet our hands with water, next we Lather our hands with soap, and then we Scrub our hands for at least 20 seconds, (sing the happy birthday song twice). Finally, we Rinse and Dry our hands. Five easy steps to help keep us healthy. Life is better with clean hands.

What's Happening in the Gym

Michigan Model Health:

This month in Health, we are talking about Social Emotional Learning. We have learned about RESPECT, Courtesy Words (Please, Thank You, You are welcome, excuse me and I am sorry.)

We are discussing ways to be a good friend to others. These topics are great for discussion at home about how to deal with others and get along.

P.E. " Fun and Fit":

We are working on many areas of physical education every day. Some highlights are:

1. Locomotor movements- Walk, run, skip, hop, side slide, jump and gallop.

2. We are learning proper form for curl-ups (like a sit up with arms on thighs and only lift head and shoulders a little bit), front lunges, wall push ups, squats and stretching.

3. Underhand toss

4. Practicing balancing on one foot or the balance beam

At home idea-: Try doing a wall sit with your child. See how long they can do it and try each day to go a little longer.

Coming Up:

I am so excited to announce that the PTO Fundraiser will be in our Gym classes the week of October 4! We will be doing some really fun activities! We will have Human Hungry Hippos, An obstacle course using our rock wall, ladder and throwing at targets, and finally, soccer kicks.

Let's get fit and have fun doing it!!!!!
