VERY IMPORTANT TO READ CAREFULLY!
Arrival and Dismissal
Our arrival and dismissal will run the same as in the past years. For those of you who are new to BPE please read the specifics below.
NEW TIME: IF your child is a car rider, they will not be able to EXIT their car till 8:40 when staff are visibly on duty. If your child does, Admin will be contacting the family.
- If you had a car tag last year, you are expected to use it again this year. It stays with your child(ren) their entire time at BPE. If you are not using it this year, please drop it off in the Main Office during Open House.
- If you do not have a CAR Tag (new to BPE or Kindergarten Family with NO older siblings), you will be able to pick up your tag during OPEN HOUSE on August 18 in your child's classroom.
- All students should be ready to exit their car. Staff will assist with car doors, but they do not open every car door.
- Cars must KEEP pulling ALL the WAY UP! WE aim to exit 10-12 cars at a time, so please pay attention and keep moving up.
- ALL cars must follow the LOOP around AND not jump out of line. This is a safety expectations that we expect ALL adults to follow.
- Please be kind and patient while in the line. We all have places to be after school and we all want our children to reach their cars safely. We encourage parents to NOT be on their phones while in the moving car line.
- Arrival for car riders is ONLY in the back of he building. Our buses drop off in the front and no cars are to be in the front loop in the AM or in the PM. Students are not to leave their cars until 8:40 when staff are on duty. This is the earliest they will be allowed in the building for breakfast this school year. Students are to be done with breakfast by 9:00 (2nd bell rings). Each Morning Classroom Meeting will start at 9:05.
- WHEN the adults come out at 8:40 and you are not entering to eat breakfast the expectation is that you exit your car and get in line to enter when the bell rings.
- Our 1st bell in the AM rings at 8:50-and the tardy bell rings at 9:00. Prior to 8:40 there are no staff members on duty. Anyone coming to school after 9:00 must be brought to the front of the building. They MUST be walked in with an adult to sign them in late. If they do not come in with an adult , the office staff will contact the parent/guardian.
- If your child is walker or bus rider and will be going in for breakfast , this year they will be entering the building through our school garden. Staff will remind them and at OPEN house you will be letting your child's classroom teacher know if they plan on eating breakfast at school.
- All our walkers and Right at School students will be dismissed at 3:40 when our bell rings. All parents must wait outside near our entry doors for walkers and walk them to cars OR have a meeting place off of school property. NO child will be permitted to cross into the parking lot without an adult or their guardian with them.
- We highly suggest that parents park across the street and have students walk to them if they are planning to not be in the pick up line. They must cross at the crosswalk with the crossing guard. ALL parents, when parking in the front lot must be legally parked in a spot and the child must be walked by the adult/guardian to the car. The small side lot is for parents to park. The larger lot is where all staff park and has limited available spots. If you need a handicap parking spot, parking in the big lot is permitted.
- We suggest you set up a safe routine with your child(ren) from day 1 that follows our school wide expectations. We want all our children to exit the building each day safely and arrive home safe.
- If our child rides their bike, it is highly recommended that they wear a helmet. All bike riders MUST walk their bike while on school property and have a lock to secure their bike during the day.
- If your child will be going to after care in the building, they will be dismissed at 3:40. They will never leave the building, but will walk to the after care area near the auditorium.
- Bus riders will be dismissed with guidance from our safety patrol and staff to their buses as they arrive in our front loop. Typically buses start to arrive and dismiss at 3:35.
Reminder about our front lot with Preschool Arrival
Preschool parents have the right away in the front loop first, as they start at 8:45 and will be dropping off prior to their start time. ALL school age cars will need to be sure no CARS are in the front loop before pulling into the small lot. Our buses will be also be waiting for preschool families to exit.
It will take time to get the rhythm at the start- please be kind, but we were able to run it very smoothly last year.
We will continue to provide all our students with a arrival and dismissal tag on their book bag. They are color coded to match their grade level and it says how they are getting home and arriving ( Right At School, bus, car, walker). Pease do not remove the tag from your child's book bag. Many teachers will write right on the tag with a sharpie mark. NO names are to go the tags.
We ask that you assist us at arrival times and dismissal times so that ALL students and staff are safe.
Mark your calendars!

FREE breakfast and lunch
Students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch, regardless of income through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, and all students will be automatically enrolled.
The CEP is free for eligible public school districts to participate in. Districts must apply through the state, which involves calculating and submitting a percentage of students who are identified as eligible for school meals for any reason other than a free and reduced student meal application. If the percentage is 25% or higher, the district is eligible. Schools participating in the program will be partially reimbursed for each meal served. The CEP also eliminates any stigma associated with free or reduced-price meals, promoting equality and fostering a supportive atmosphere for all students.
The free meal will be the set meal for each day, although additional items will still be available for purchase. Parents are encouraged to contact the Board Office at 216-898-8300 to discuss food allergies, special dietary needs, and any specific requirements their children may have.
Parents may continue to deposit money into their students’ accounts using Infinite Campus Food Service at any time during the school year. Please make checks payable to the school cafeteria, and funds can be dropped off in the school cafeteria prior to the beginning of the school day. Funds may also be added to your student’s account using the online site. There is no charge from Infinite Campus to use this feature or to view your student’s account. Please allow at least 30 minutes for the online payment to appear in your student’s account.
Families are asked and encouraged to complete the Income Eligibility Verification Application (must be printed and filled out) to access additional benefits, including increased state and federal funding for staff, equipment, and supplies; discounts on fees for academic assessments; and access to local scholarships, tuition assistance for dual credit and AP courses, and discounts on college application fees. By completing the application, you help the district continue to provide valuable resources and opportunities for every student.
