Superintendent's Message - Strategic Plan Update
I hope this message finds you well. As we move forward through the remainder of the school year, I want to reaffirm our collective commitment to our District's mission.
We are a District where students remain at the heart of everything we do. Our mission, Every Child. Every Day., guides us in this endeavor, reminding us of the importance of fostering an environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
In the spirit of continuous improvement and transparency, the District recently launched a public dashboard detailing the performance of its schools and listing student achievement, financial, and school environment data. To review our progress, please visit the Strategic Plan section of our website.
Together, we can build upon the foundation we have laid and continue to make strides toward achieving our goals. By staying true to our mission, we can ensure that every student receives the education they deserve and is prepared for success in school and beyond.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dan Callaghan

D140 School Board Takes Action to Ease Tax Burden with $3.1 Million Abatement
The Kirby School District 140 Board of Education voted to abate $3.1 million dollars in local property taxes at its March meeting. The move came after the District secured a Property Tax Relief Grant from the State of Illinois, which allowed them to reduce local property taxes and replace that revenue with state funds. The Board has plans to abate $3.1 million for two consecutive years, bringing a total of $6.2 million dollars in property tax relief to District 140 residents.
“The decision to abate local property taxes reflects our commitment to balancing the needs of our schools with the financial well-being of taxpayers,” stated Board President Tom Martelli.
“We recognize the burden property taxes can have on families and local businesses. Through careful financial planning, we’re trying to continue providing a top-notch education for our students while lightening the financial load on our community.”
