GRATITUDE
Children's ability to understand the concept of thankfulness and gratitude develops with age and maturity. All along their path of development, we can incorporate small things into daily interactions with them that set the stage for a greater understanding of gratitude.
Here are a few ideas that parents and families can do to foster gratitude:
Model thankfulness - Let your children see you expressing thanks and appreciating others.
Activities reinforce the message - Kids this age learn best through play and activities. While playing pretend, encourage your child to act out with you or with their stuffed animals or dolls, saying please and thank you.
Discuss emotions - While we take our emotions for granted, young children are just beginning to understand them. Discussing emotions, what they mean and how to cope with them is essential.
Repetition matters - Repetition does have a role in fostering gratitude. Young children learn through repetition and routine. By repeatedly encouraging your child to say “thank you” or “please” for gifts or items, it reinforces a mindset of thankfulness. Although it may seem half-hearted at first, over time most children begin to really understand more the significance of their words, especially if you are helping them learn gratitude in other ways as well.

- 95% of the brain's capacity is developed by age 3
- Playing is the most effective way for children to learn life skills and find out what they like
- If babies bodies grew at the same rapid pace as their brains, they would weigh 170 lbs. at one month of age
- Children learn how to behave socially and emotionally by imitating the behavior of those closest to them

Important Information From the Health Care Center
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for remaining vigilant for calls, emails, or texts from the HCC should your student need to be given medication, tested for Covid/Flu/Strep, have an urgent or emergent need, or require picking up. Students with positive test results, fevers, or worsening symptoms cannot remain on campus.
We are here to supplement your student’s care while at school. Please utilize your PCPs and specialists for routine and follow- up care in addition to concerns beyond the scope of the HCC.
Our goal is to return students to class as soon as possible. Encourage your student to come to the HCC for minor complaints before or after school. Have a wonderful holiday with your student and family

Please be watchful for any: Fever, Body aches, Fatigue, Cough, Headache, Nausea/Vomit
Keep your student at home if they exhibit any signs of illness.
