๐ A Little Reading Each Night Makes a Big Difference!
Dear Families,
Nightly reading helps children build vocabulary, strengthen understanding, and grow into confident readers. Itโs also a wonderful opportunity to spend time together!
Try these three simple steps:
Make time. Set aside 15โ20 minutes in a cozy, quiet spot. Let your child choose a book they enjoy.
Read together. Listen to your child read, take turns, or read aloud to them. If they get stuck, encourage them to sound out the word and gently help when needed.
Talk about it. Ask, โWhat happened?โ โWhat do you think will happen next?โ or โWhat was your favorite part?โ Encourage your child to explain their thinking.
Keep it positive and celebrate their effort! Thank you for helping your child grow as a readerโone page at a time. โค๏ธ
Warmly,
Mrs. Kristie Autrey

NC Check-Ins Assessment Information
Families, we will be giving our first NC Check-In of the school year. This assessment measures your childโs understanding of the North Carolina standards in reading, math, and science (5th grade only). These assessments provide us with valuable information about teaching and learning.
To help your child be successful, here are three tips:
-
Rest Well: Make sure your child gets a good nightโs sleep before the assessment days.
-
Healthy Start: Provide a balanced breakfast so they have energy and focus.
-
Encouragement: Remind your child to do their best, stay calm, and take their time.
Thank you for your support in preparing your child!
