Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our March Reading Madness Challenge begins next week! 📚 Students will earn points for the minutes they read, and the class with the most points will win a special celebration party. Encourage your child to read each day and log their reading minutes so their class can compete. Let the reading games begin!

A quick reminder that Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend. Please remember to set your clocks forward one hour on Saturday night so everyone arrives at school on time Monday morning. ⏰

There will be no school for students on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. While students are enjoying the day off, we encourage them to read a good book and complete a few iReady lessons in reading and math to keep their learning momentum going.

📝 Student Registration is Now Open

Great news! Registration is officially open for both the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year and the upcoming 2026–2027 school year for the Chester Upland School District.

Families may complete enrollment using PowerSchool Enrollment for:

  • The remainder of the 2025–2026 school year

  • The upcoming 2026–2027 school year

Parents of new students or families who have not yet completed registration can begin the process now.

The registration links can be found on our website under “Student Registration” at the top of the page or by visiting the link below:

📵 Policy Reminder – Cell Phones

Please remember that cell phones should remain turned off and stored away during the school day unless otherwise directed by a staff member. This helps minimize distractions and keeps students focused on learning.

⚠️ Important Allergy Reminder – No Nuts in School

To help keep all students safe, nuts and foods containing nuts are not permitted in school due to student allergies.

Parents and guardians, please ensure that students do not bring snacks containing nuts or peanut butter. If your child brings Lunchables or similar packaged meals, please remove any items that contain nuts or peanut butter before sending them to school.

Your cooperation helps us maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students. Thank you for your understanding and support.

📈 Attendance Matters!

Our yearly goal for average attendance is 90%. This week our attendance rate increased to 64%—a step in the right direction! Let’s keep moving upward together. 💪

Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in your child’s academic success. Students who attend school daily are more likely to stay on track, build strong learning habits, and make meaningful growth in reading and math.

How you can help:

  • ✅ Ensure your child arrives at school on time each morning

  • ✅ Avoid early dismissals whenever possible

  • ✅ Schedule appointments after school hours when possible

  • ✅ Remember — every minute of instruction counts

Together, we can reach our attendance goal and continue building a strong and successful school community.

Thank you for your continued support of Main Street Elementary School. Your partnership makes a difference in the success of our students each day. 🌟

Warm regards,
Ms. D. Medley
Principal, Main Street Elementary School

Proud to serve our amazing school community! 💛

Main Street Celebrates Read Across America Spirit Week! 📚🎉

Main Street Elementary proudly celebrated Read Across America Spirit Week! Our students had a wonderful time participating in daily dress-up themes inspired by the beloved books of Dr. Seuss. Throughout the week, classrooms were filled with excitement, creativity, and a love for reading.

Students enjoyed fun themes such as “Cozy Up With a Good Book,” “Fox in Socks,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” and “The Cat in the Hat.” It was great to see students and staff showing their school spirit while celebrating the joy of reading.

Events like this help remind our students that reading can take them anywhere their imagination allows. Thank you to our families and staff for supporting this fun and engaging week! 📖✨
